Half way through

....february and look who's arrived.   Yes storm Dudley - he made a bit of an entry last evening and has wetted us through more or less all day today with odd bursts of sunshine to suggest perhaps he was on his way.   But no,on the tea time news they tell us that it is tonight when he is really going to make his presence felt.   At least when I take my hearing aids out I can't hear what is going  on.

It was out in the stormy weather to the hairdressers this morning.   Because  I had to be there by nine it was too early for my taxi (he takes the school children) but my carer, who only lives round the corner from the hairdresser, took me and when I was ready to come home I rang her.  As most women will agree - there is nothing like a trip to the hairdresser for lifting one's spirits.    Add to that the lunch my carer had cooked for me today (beef stew and dumplings) and had I not been tired from having a bad night last night I would have got a lot further on with sorting out files for the accountant.   But one more bag done so better than nothing and as I have nothing to do tomorrow, with a bit of luck I might get two more bags done.

I shall slip off early now and relax until time for the repair shop at eight.   See you tomorrow folks.

It’s been windy here on the top floor today, I’ve anchored down the balcony chairs as Eunice is forecast to be worse then her brother Dudley. My newly potted plants are dancing in the wind but I am cosy inside still waiting for a team GB winter Olympic medal. Keep warm and safe.

50mph winds with us at the moment, set to continue through the night. Friday am is forecast even worse - 80+mph. Not looking forward to that. I once worked in a town on the coast where we had 100mph+ winds. We were watching slates flying off and landing on cars in the street. I'm afraid damage is widely forecast for the next few days. Keep safe all.

It's fairly windy here in Ontario as well. My husband and I just returned from a walk that involved collecting multiple recycling bins from the middle of the street. It was more of a good Samaritan mission than a walk but enjoyable just the same. We reached temperatures of 7C today. Hooray!

It was windy enough for a power cut here this afternoon, though a storm called Dudley is difficult to take seriously for someone who grew up with Pete and Dud on TV.

I am hoping we wake up tomorrow with all our roof tiles intact.

Hasn't been as bad here as forecast today but tonight is forecast to be bad.

I got soaked on my walk yesterday so wore my long raincoat to do my weekly shopping this morning. Needless to say not a drop of rain fell! Tonight it is very gusty - I wonder what tomorrow will bring. Stay safe everyone.

The wind can be wicked. Best to stay inside and warm. I hope you do not see much damage from the storm. Your beef stew sounds perfect, especially on a stormy day.

It was very windy here all day, and I heard rain and the wind rattling my blinds during the night when I woke up a few times. Nothing too dramatic in my area, though; further north in this country and regions that are higher up than mine, it was worse. I have yet to read the news so I don't know how bad.
Your combination of a visit to the hairdresser's and nice lunch sounds like it was another good day for you, Pat. Plus you sorted out more paperwork!

I hope the storm does not get too bad and you were able to get a good night's sleep. I agree, going to the hairdresser's does lift one's spirit!

Winds and gales never needed names once, just taken in our stride. I am grateful to UK Networks for restoring my electricity which went off last night and gave me a pleasant evening of peace and darkness except for a torch.

I agree with Rachel, we used to just get up in the morning, say it'a bit windy today and think more about it.
Now we have to name storms, have yellow, amber and now red, warnings of severity and have weather forecasters scaring us witless about what might happen to us.

Derek and Rachel - agree with you both.

Hold on to your hats everyone.

It was a bit gusty here yesterday. I spent the morning on the farm and most of the sheep there are undercover waiting to lamb.
Stay safe. X
