Sun

Well, the sun has shone all day.   Franklin is still blowing his socks off and the sun is beating him to it and my sitting room is basking in heat without anything artificial for the first time in a couple of weeks.

Of course Priscilla and I can't go out - it is still far too windy but I did stand in the front doorway for a few minutes getting fresh, warm air and it was lovely and it did bring a promise of Spring to come.

All that has happened today here is that it was the day for my Chiropodist to come and give my feet their six-weekly treat.   I am now walking on air.

Tomorrow is a day I shall be pleased to say good-bye to as I am going to the Optician.   This involves Priscilla and my Zimmer frame as I have to go to his upstairs surgery because my eyes need equipmennt which is only up there.   My eyes in their ninetieth year are sadly worn out.  The  thought of not being able to read just does not bear thinking about.

The other job I have to tackle is to find out whether or not I can ever obtain a new battery for my Bosch Athlet cordless vaccuum.   I have been waitimg simce last October for the local electrical shop to get me one and they keep telling me they are 'unobtainable'.   My carer has been bringing hers.  I have decided tomorrow is the day for one last push and then if all else fails I shall have to abandon my four year old Bosch and buy a new one.   But it certainly will not be a Bosch.

See you tomorrow.......

It's lovely when the sun shines, isn't it?

Sorry about your eyes, hope the visit to the optician helps them

All the best for your visit to the optician!
As you know, I have had very bad eyesight for most of my life. My two cataract operations last year still feel very much like a miracle. If that is suggested to you, grab the chance, Pat!

My eyes are going but I am scared about any remedial work, so good luck with your visit tomorrow. Vacuum cleaners come in all shapes and sizes. We have a Henry here, very heavy!!

I cam heartily recommend a Roomba robotic vacuum if you decide to buy a new one. Mine is an ages old pet model (cat hair) an the still stock replacement parts. Just push the button an it vacuums away and returns to the charging station on its own.It does a great job. I run it every day because of my cat is always shedding, keeps the place clean and I just push the button. ;-)

Franklin seems rather more violent than his siblings here, probably because the wind is more from the NW and carrying a lot of rain with it. Hope the eye appointment goes well tomorrow.

As a reader who loves actual BOOKS, those tablets and such that can download on-line books have a feature that enlarges the text so you can read with the print very large if you need to. Or, of course, use a magnifying glass!
Wishing you well at the optician's office.
Enjoy today's sunshine!

Hugs!

Gosh, you must dread having to face getting up those stairs ! Good luck with it. I’m surprised you can’t claim that vacuum battery is not replaced under your Consumer Guarantees Act? Four years seems a short time for “reasonable wear”. I have a Dyson stick vacuum cleaner, which was very expensive, but is excellent. However, I have heard good things of the Roomba robotic cleaners, and they would be easier for you. I’ve no idea how affordable they are.

Meanwhile, your eyes are the most important thing - I hope there’s some effective improvement that can be offered.

Bosch parts are unavailable here too. My appliances are all Bosch and I'm having to buy new, due to no parts. What's happening at Bosch - are they going out of business?

I am annoyed with your optician for having an office surgery in an upstairs location. What kind of doctor has his patients navigate stairs. He probably has numerous patients with mobility issues? Also, many people require eye drops before eye examinations and the drops blur vision. Stairs would be dangerous for these patients as well. He really needs to find a new location.
I'm glad you experienced some sun and warmth today. I did as well. I just returned from playing with my dog in the backyard. It felt great to get a bit of sun on my face.

I hope that you have someone to help you navigate those stairs tomorrow!

We had a sunny day here, as well. It does wonders for your spirit, doesn't it? We could feel spring in the air too, and were grateful.

Today was lovely; tomorrow promises almost as nice, with rain. I have doctor appointments all week!

I had a look on line and there appears to be several companies offering Bosch parts, including batteries.

When my father’s eyesight failed he was offered books on tape from the library. These days there is so much audio available for free. Not quite the same, I know, but I enjoy it all.

I hope it goes well at the opticians, unusually our opticians has the main consulting room upstairs too, it was very dicey for me to negotiate with my bad back AND the blurry vision some of my tablets gave me.

I use a Gtech rechargeable vacuum cleaner as does my Mum, they are extremely light weight and easy to empty and the charge lasts for along time. Enough for my Mum to clean her little bungalow right through at least three or four times between charges.

Derek my computer skills are not good could you possibly give me more details please.

Librarian I have one bad eye and one good one - unfortunately the cataract is on the good eye and my optician is not keen on my having it done because if it went wrong that would make me almost blind.
Susan - thank you for that information.
Thanks everyone for info. My optician has a stairlift but there are two steps up to it and I cannot negotiate those so my son is coming to help me.

I will report back!

Pat, if you send me the model type of your vacuum I'll see what I can find out.

Good luck with your eyes today, Weaver! Yes, eyesight is precious! I'm so glad you stood on your porch and got some fresh air. People don't give enough credence to simply doing that as being good for a person. I'm glad you realize it. I do too! ~Andrea xoxoxo
