Early one morning.

Much earlier than sunrise - 4.29 to be precise- I am sitting at my computer unable to sleep.   According to my computer it is eleven degrees outside and cloudy.   I have just had a couple of Paracetamol and am just giving them a while to work before getting back into bed and trying to have a bit longer before thinking of getting up - otherwise it is going to be a very long day.

Today is the one day in the week when I manage without a carer - takes me ages to do all the things she does in an hour, but it does me no harm.   And I have a Zoom at 5pm with W, P, and D to look forward to.   The forecast suggests that it will be too windy for me to walk.

Well it is now evening.   It has been a dull day but not particularly cold. I did go back to bed and to sleep, waking at a quarter to eight, so had a reasonable number of hours.   But by the time I have done all the necessary jobs it is lunch time.   Afterwatching the News at 1 I dropped off to sleep for almost an hour and by the time I had tidied my lunch things away it was almost time for our Zoom.  We have this once a fortnight - in the Pre Covid days we used to meet for lunch in Kirkby Lonsdale in the Italian restaurant - now sadly closed for ever.   But, as usual, a pleasant chat for our forty minutes.   Tea over just time to go through my blog before Ben Fogle comes on TV with his Life in the Wild - a programme I enjoy.

Nothing else to report today - a quiet day but a pleasant one.   See you tomorrow again.   Hoping I would sleep well last night I decided to make myself a hot chocolate with milk,   As I began to drink it I had a fit of the shakes in my hand holding the cup and it spilled  all down the front of a cream pure wool jumper.   I am pleased to report that this morning I dampened the stains (quite extensive) with stain remover and washed the jumper, following the instructions carefully - and every one has come out and the jumper is as good as new.  I can't wait to show my carer (she would have insisted I left it to her).

I never used to have a problem sleeping but these days I wake up in the night at all hours and then can't get back to sleep as my mind floods with problems. I love the Ben Fogle program and could certainly live a life in the wild quite easily. Well done with the stain removing.

When my mother reached her 70s, if she'd had a busy day and was very tired, she took one aspirin about an hour before going bed and said it helped her relax so she could fall asleep easily. I'm glad you got more sleep after your unwelcome wakefulness at that early hour!

Well done in treating the hot chocolate stains prompting and correctly. :)

Hugs!

What a relief to get those stains out of your jumper. Glad you had a pleasant day and I hope you sleep better tonight.

I was awake at the same time as you Weave, but I did not spy a fair maiden in the valley below...

Well, we shall know tomorrow if you had a good sound sleep! I hope you did! I usually have to get up twice of a night to go to the bathroom! I can usually get back to sleep ... Thank goodness!
So glad you could get the stain out of your wool jumper!

Does that song go, "Early one morning, just as the sun was rising, I heard a maid sing in the valley below, Oh don't you grieve me, Oh don't you leave me, How could you use a poor maiden so"? I learned that in 7th grade chorus, in California, years ago. Amazing what memory can be.

Some job removing those milk and chocolate stains. Well done.

Happy to know the stains disappeared! Nothing worse than a pretty cream colored woolen garment being ruined. I sometimes awaken at 2, maybe 3 and when I know full well I won't get back to sleep, I turn on my bedroom tv, sound down low, set timer for 60 minutes ... I think I am back asleep within five to ten minutes. The Golden Girls followed by Frasier, two shows I simply love. Cannot explain how they lull me back to sleep, but they never fail.

Good work on the stains!
Why were you taking paracetamol? Were you in pain or did you have a fever? I hope you slept better last night and are back to your normal self today.

Well done with getting the stains out. When I worked at the school we had a laundry lady called, appropriately perhaps, Peggy (!). She was a great authority on what to do with various fabrics to remove a wide variety of stains, and I used to consult her about such matters.

Comforting words from Tom Stephenson.
Always nice to know you’re not the only one awake in the wee small hours.

It's a lovely warm and sunny day (Weds) here on Sheppey and nice to hear the Skylarks singing as I walked across the nature reserve earlier on.

Well done on the jumper..had it been left it would not have come out well.
Early mornings like that are good...but only when it is light in the summer!

You did very well; chocolate can stain badly, can’t it. Your carer will be impressed! My darling aunt had an essential tremor from her 40s . It was so bad I wrote all her cheques and paid her bills as writing was such an effort. She had a set of straws as drinking from a cup was beyond her, and soup needed to go up a straw too. It was such a burden, but, like you, she just got on with it.

Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow- and in another month Spring will be just around the corner.

Librarian - arthritis in my feet and ankles. Many years since I heard a skylark Derek - lucky you.
Ruth - nearly right. Early one morning, just as the sun was rising. I heard a maiden singing in the valley below. Oh don't deceive me. Oh never leave me. How could you use a poor maiden so.

Nighty night every one.

The rest of the song goes "If other valley maidens feel like I, used, abused and broken hearted, put quill to paper, contact me, - let's get a #MeToo movement started.". Not much those poor maidens could do about it in those days but sing in low lying valleys! Pam.

I am so tempted to press on the link of 'jaw crusher' but won't, it is of course a scam. Attacks are quite common today. But back to removing stains, my only go to methods are either fairy liquid for grease, or cold water for wool stains
