Help!

My poor son, who has plenty on his plate caring for his invalid wife, has to bear the brunt every time anything is wrong with my computing.   Today Google (bless its heart) challenged me with its sword drawn, refusing to print my thank you for yesterday's blog unless I proved who I was.   I tried dear readers, I really tried, but after failing on two 'verification codes' it gave up and told me to try again later.  My son has just been round - click, click and it was done.  My brain shatters into tiny pieces when Google asks me a question - worse than having a lover (which of course is now well out of the range of possibilities for me - don't know whether to be happy or sad!   See you tomorrow when my brain is in top gear rather than neutral.

Thank goodness your son lives close enough he can pop in and help you and then get back home and to his wife!
Not everyone is so lucky! And, not every son is computer literate!

Awww bless you, it happens to us all that's for sure. When my son lived 4hrs drive away he used to take control of my computer remotely and that worked out fine for me if I had a problem. Happy Easter to you, and thank you for your wonderful blog, I thoroughly enjoy reading it each day.

I don't log out of blogger so don't have to log in each time.

My youngest daughter is my technical assistant and sorts out all my mobile phone and computer problems. I don't know what I would do without her. Thank goodness for children.

Don't know if you have it there but it seems every time I log into certain sites I have to rush to the phone for a verification code. Sometimes I just don't make it in time!

I have my husband who often loses patience with me with my challenges with technology, because I do try, but in exasperation he fixes things anyway, mainly for expediency.

Sometimes the computer needs a good talking to. My computer lost contact with my printer this week so I had to help them get together.

I am glad your son is nearby and can help out occasionally. Overall, you do remarkably well. Let's acknowledge, you are one very capable person. I suspect, if your son was not nearby, you could hire an expert to resolve computing issues. In my town, there is a guy called "The IT Guy" and he makes house calls to solve internet/computer problems.

I can never please Google, either!

Oh, computers, while useful some of the time, can be aggravating creatures on many and varied occasions. Mu son helps me when I get stuck.

Doesn't that drive you mad! We had to ask the help of a friend who knows his stuff. He successfully plugged in the replacement TV box (Vodafone had gone out of TV stuff and handed it all over to Sky) for us. We could never have done it on our own. Then I asked Ian if he'd kindly take a look at the printer which wasn't working . . . well, he did . . . smiled, and pushed a cord in properly!!! We have printing again! I'm really not competent with anything more modern than a fountain pen! So, dear Pat, just be glad your son lives close.

I keep all my passwords, ID numbers, etc, in one book, and rarely have problems. Also, I tend to use the same password, which I know is not recommended, which makes things easier.

I have been through the same thing X10 recently when setting up a new computer. It drives you mad, doesn't it?

If cleaning was the road to the best computer performance in the country yours would be up there at the top. Unfortunately computers are not like this and require patience and method and very often in order to solve problems the ability to follow instructions which you have told us here many times is not your forté. Living as I do with nobody to ask for help I google in the hope to find that I am not the first to have had a particular problem and someone has published how to solve it, and the same on You Tube, and work my way through. And like others have said, I never, ever sign out of Blogger.

I have been signing out of my blog because there is an unwelcome 'guest' from Poland accessing it. But this morning Google would not let me in with a verification number. It was my phone that was up the creek. A long and lengthy text chat with a Vodafone person solved the problem, and 16 verification numbers rolled in on my phone. Two hours wasted but I am beginning to understand my phone!

My favorite thing is when you enter a password, which is rejected. You enter it again, and it is rejected. You go through the process of changing the password, and enter the password you thought it was only to receive the message that you cannot use the same password.

I will always have an uneasy alliance with technology.

I'm with you all the way. I get sick and tired of signing in every little thing I want to do.
Also I notice more and more that they want to send a security number by phone to prove who I am. I'd love to get rid of the lot but they have me hooked, lol.
Now to add to the frustrations my internet keeps coming and going, maybe the kids on the games over the holiday, who knows.
