Monday

Today promised a lovely day but has gradually got more and more cloudy and has been quite a dreary day really.   Luckily the crocus and tete a tete in my garden have cheered me up no end.

Because it is the first of my visits to the doctor tomorrow afternoon I decided to make notes of what I wanted to discuss with her.   My memory is not too bad but at 89 it is not as astute as it once was, so rather than think of something when I am half way home - best to write it down (and put it in my handbag so that I remember both the notes and the mask which is obligatory at the surgery. )

W came round with her much more sophisticated computer 'stuff' (can't be bothered to update) for our usual fortnightly zoom with P and D and would you believe they had FORGOTTEN.   After waiting for ten minutes we rang them and they were full of apologies but we shall not let them forget it.

See you tomorrow.

The last time I went to the the doctors was about 20 years ago. I typed out on a piece of paper what I wanted to say and handed it to him. It was succinct, said it all, and saved both of us a lot of time. I thought of doing it this way when I had been going over what I wanted to say before I went and it suddenly seemed like a good idea to type it out. Very good idea to have your notes, will save time waste on both sides.

As a nurse, now retired, I've always written a note for the things I wanted to discuss with my doctors. The first note I wrote was on the back of a Kleenex box after I'd had our first baby. The doctor breezed into my room, talking a mile a minute, and started to leave when I asked him to sit down as I had lots of questions that needed answers. He laughed and sat, then kindly answered each question. My dear MIL was with me then and could believe I had talked to a DOCTOR like that. It was my turn to laugh.

Hugs!

Isn't it comforting when someone else forgets an occasion? It makes me feel much better!
I always have to write myself a few notes when going to the doctor. It is so easy to forget the things one wants to say. I regularly write a shopping list too, but quite often get halfway through the actual shopping before having to refer to it.
It was our turn for sunshine today. I opened a couple of windows for a few hours and didn't have the fire on until after lunch - my windows catch the sunshine in the morning. We just have to make the most of fine days when we get them, don't we?

I always have my list when seeing the doctor. On occasion, I've also brought a current medical article, written by a MD, relevant to my question. Many times doctors are not current with the latest medical findings. PUBMED (National Library of Medicine) database is a good source for current research. Everyone has access.

I take a list to the doctor now!

I find it a challenge to come home after a doctor appointment and remember very much. I do take notes but they're not very good.

As I keep regular appointments with my eye doctor (every 3 months), I don't need to take notes for those visits. But when I started the process of preparing for my first eye operation in 2018, not only did I take notes at home, I even took my sister along to help me remember what was being said. This was very useful and made the entire thing easier for me.
Funny about your friends forgetting the zoom appointment!

I have never visited the doctor for myself since goodness knows when. But you note taking has ticked a box and as for 'zooming' perhaps it is going out of fashion.

Feel a bit thee same about zooming but it is lovely to see my new baby great grand son - and my 5 year old great granddaughter who live in Glasgow. They are a lovely family and I would not have seen them without Zoom since covid.
