The best laid plans.....

We had planned (me, my son and his disabled wife) to have a pizza for tea tonight.   They have bought a new light-weight wheel chair and were intending to give it a try out.   Now for some obscure reason we find the nearest pizza parlour is closed.  It doesn't matter for me - I had a prawn salad with a jacket potato for lunch - I always eat at lunchtime.   But they always eat in the evening.   So our plans have been revised.   They are having a sandwich at home, I am having a sandwich here and then they are coming round for a coffee and a Danish (I had bought Danish pastries for afters in any case.)   Never mind - we can try again next week.

It has been a lovely day here today, cloudless sky - but now in the early evening it is turning chilly and the heating is just coming on.   So I shall close the blinds, set the trolley, turn the heating up and await their arrival.

Like many of you I am avoiding the News this weekend.   Feeling helpless and then watching it just makes things worse.    See you tomorrow.

A pizza parlor closed, there must be a good story there. A dinner of making individual pizzas at home can be fun.

Your visit will be enjoyable, it is always a blessing to see loved ones. Tea and a danish sounds good. Yes, the news is heart breaking, and then an hour ago I was sitting in the living room and felt a jolt. An earthquake, never a good feeling. 3.9 centered in a place inland from me.

Well at least with your son in attendance the tea trolley should get to its destination without a spillage.

It is good to be flexible in one's plans - they are so easily upset and at least you will still see your son and daughter-in-law. The pizza can wait until another time.
Another lovely day here with a chilly breeze but glorious sunshine. I wonder what tomorrow will bring. More of the same I hope.

What a shame but you're still meeting up and a Danish and coffee would suit me anyday! Hope you have a lovely time with your son and daughter in law.

I heartily agree with your decision to avoid the news. We know what's going on but we don't need to be reminded every time we turn on the telly. There is nothing we can do right now so we need to look after our mental health or we will be useless to everyone.

We have a discussion each day now about whether to put the news on. Most days it's no.

Danish, eh? These days I get hungry at any mention of food.

A closed pizza shop is terrible. How could they!

IT is always nice to get together with family. Most recently, we did Chinese take-out and it was delicious. If you like Chinese, it might be a good alternative to pizza.

I always keep a roll of ready-made pizza dough in the freezer. Most of the other ingredients are standard fare (other than Mozzarella). You could open your own Pizzeria.

Maybe too many of the staff have caught covid and the pizza place can not operate properly until they come back to work.
You still got to spend time together, which is nice.
It was a beautiful sunny day here with mild temperatures, but turned cold at night. We have finally had a bit of rain over night, badly needed for our dusty fields and parched woods.

Nothing worse than planning an easy evening takeaway and then it not happening Pat. It means in this household someone has to get to and cook. Mind you it is much cheaper.

I think Danishes, tea and a visit sounds like a lovely way to end a day. Now, you can look forward to a redo of pizza night. My neighbours invited us for pizza last night to thank me for cat sitting for them. They make their own sour dough crust and sear it in a frying pan before popping the pizza and its toppings in the oven. I don't think I've ever enjoyed pizza more than I did last night.

Melinda - I have never made my own pizza - there is this very good pizza place only a mile or so away -as I no longer do any cooking I am afraid it is too late to learn now.

Not normal times are they? Stay sane if you can and thanks for calling.
