I don't think I ever remember such an awful day as yesterday.   It was pouring with rain when I drew back the blinds at seven and it was still pouring with rain when I went to bed.  There was enough fog to  make it impossible to see much further than across the road.

How different it is this morning.    I am sitting here just after twelve, the sun is out, there is enough breeze to have cleared away the fog and looking out of my sitting room window I can see -( looking through three almost leafless silver birches and between the houses) my beloved East Witton Fell.  I always think of this as the Eastern edge of the  Yorkshire Dales.   Most days that view tells me enough so that I don't ever have to listen to the weather forecast.   And in addition it treats me to a magnificent display of heather every August.

I really am no longer able to go out but I have plenty of views to look back on  in a cupboard full of photographs from around the world.   I am always intending to start but never do - I might start this afternoon.   Yesterday I watched a programme  on Plymouth, Massachusetts and as I watched, so many memories came back.

 See you tomorrow,

You can probably re-live lots of travel memories just by watching some of the excellent TV series set around the world. Vicarious travel from the comfort of your own armchair.

I love your quiet acceptance. You take your circumstances and make the very best of them. Your posts and reflections are a joy to read once again. Thank you for them.

I think leafing through your old photo albums sounds like a wonderful way to pass the time and spark memories. My eldest son (21 yrs) is planning to leave for a backpacking trip of Europe and Asia in two months. You reminded me that it might be a good idea to pull out my old photo album of my European travels to show him. I'm pretty sure he'll sit politely and allow me to blather on but the pleasure will be all mine.

I think this is part of how lives are lived, we slow down and we get to enjoy our memories. Thanks for sharing yours.

Our weather changes in a day, just as you describe in the Yorkshire Dales. I like the 4 seasons as well as the highly changeable weather patterns. Your views sound lovely. Views change with the seasons and watching the transformation is always enjoyed.

What a lovely post! I'm so glad you have long views that mean so much to you to enjoy from your windows.
After spending 10 long, hot years in Texas, we're happy for our home to be snuggled in tall trees in beautiful Virginia now and we love having 4 seasons again. I have throw pillows and wall quilts that I get out to celebrate each season indoors.

Hugs!

Yes, no doubt on films and telly you occasionally get a glimpse of where you've been. It's made watching Doc Martin more enjoyable for me, knowing I've wandered along the featured streets and cove.
Televisions with high definition now , allow for exceptional armchair travels, compared to the old technology. Stay warm and well Pat. - Pam, Aust.

The awful weather has moved up to the east of Scotland with a month's rain falling in one place..Ballater is flooded again although not as bad as Storm Frank in 2015.

It is all sodden here..and more forecast on Sunday.

Good to read your daily writings again. xx

Probably good to rest up and not push yourself over the winter, I'm sure you'll be out and about next spring. You are an inspiration to us all! x

What a treat to glimpse such a beautiful view after a day of such miserable weather, even if it is between the houses. Very changeable down here too and quite a bit colder, as it should be at this time of year. I seem to be addicted to buying sweaters so cold weather is not a problem.
You have reminded me that I have three albums of family photos, plus quite a few that still need to be put into an album. A nice task for a dismal day perhaps.

We had snow flurries all day here, and quite cold all day, about 0°C. Thankfully we did not get the snow that dumped on places about 5 hours north of us. I wish I could imagine your view, especially the Heather, but maybe one day I will be able to see Yourkshire and see for myself.

You have such a beautiful view - stunning!

Hello Weave. It's been grim here too, but a dose of Repair Shop will make us forget the weather.
