Let it snow!

Six inches of snow and still snowing. Very Christmassy, but I shall never look on the Christmas robin with great affection again - one is defending our bird table against all comers - even tried to see off a magpie and gave another robin "what for" when it tried to get to the beef suet I have put out. The scene outside is very pretty from here in the kitchen but the lane is almost impassable. The farmer battled through it to fetch our daily papers, so at least we have up-to-date news to read. This is the first snow Tess has seen in her ten months of life - dashed round in it like a whirligig.

Very snowy here too. I like the way it makes time for things by forcing you to stop in your tracks - even if we do get far less snow than some countries. I once stayed on a farm in Canada. They said that when it snowed you could only see where the road was by the tops of the telegraph poles! They dug a tunnel every year from the farmhouse to the cowshed.

I am sitting at the kitchen table right now looking out onto the snow, and it is indeed still snowing. I too saw a robin seeing off another robin yesterday. I didn't want to go out in the 4x4 hubby went to work in it after suggesting I took him (hmmm) Anyhow glad i am here! I hate driving in the snow. Hubby loves it!!!
May get up onto the moors to take some pictures later....only if hubby drives!

It's raining on our snow now. That's good as long as the rain clears our hill of icy slush. I've got a feeling, though, it'll end up even worse than it is now.

It's strange but our robin always seems willing to share with other birds.

It's snowy here also, it snowed about three or four inches yesterday. I take the time to curl up with a good book and read away.

Wonderful snow photo! I would love some of that beautiful white blanket.

It is cold here in Georgia, but not cold enough to snow. In fact we rarely, if ever, get any snow. When we do get snow it is merely a dusting and gone within a day or two. {sigh} Your photo is absolutely beautiful, Weaver! I hope you don't mind if I live viariously through your photo and wish we had a bit of soft, white snow here.

I think snow driving is a man thing mrs nesbitt! I just got David to take me to Tesco on the Garrison - was pleased not to be driving on these roads but going round the supermarket with him - oh dear, I don't think so!

Hope your wet snow doesn't freeze, Pat. Tess is enjoying it greatly. Me? I am sitting by the fire reading.

My sentiments exactly gramma ann.

Willow and Debra - you are welcome to it all. Wish I could parcel it up and send it to you. I love it when I open the curtains and the world is magic (Ronald Blythe says it is weather that comes with a finger to its lips) but as soon as I have to go out in it!! no thanks!!

Please do Elizabeth - glad you enjoy my ramblings - I enjoy yours too.

Hi Weaver. At last I have a comment bos. I have had lots of trouble lately trying to comment on all my favourite blogs. Great I'm here finally!!. Loved your poem and your writings about the sheep and the snow on the moor. I thought Fox Hunting had been banned in the UK. I recall a big news item about the law being passed. We have hunting here too but it's usually a hare or a drag hunt. I used to hunt years ago but only on the drag hunts. I'm going to do a special post just so you can see what a possum looks like. Stay very warm. We're roasting over here but rain today. We need it the pasture is very dry.

Take care
Liz

Oh, how I envy you your wonderful snowfall! I can just imagine the bright light it is casting inside your home! It snowed here last year on Apple's birthday. Her first snow, too, and she also ran around like crazy! So much fun to watch her!

We have two regular robins at the moment, co-existing well. It must be a sign that there's plenty of food about.

We have escaped the snow and the heavy rain which was forecast for our area. Snow is very beautiful but it does make life difficult for many people. Robins are so pretty and sing a lovely song but can be little thugs can't they? Thankyou for your kind comment on my book. I painted the calico pages first, then drew some of the designs on paper which were then stitched onto a page with running stitch. Other designs were stamped directly onto the painted pages or embroidered on. I wrote the text directly onto the painted calico and stitched down the middle of each pair of pages to hold them firmly in place on a piece of craft vilene which was in turn stitched to the middle of the craft vilene cover. The book cover was treated with gesso and had bits of scrim and lace etc, embedded into it and other bits sewn on. Then I painted it and did blanket stitch all round the edges to hold the end papers in place. I hope this is clear and gives you an idea of what I did.

Wow! How gorgeous is that. Hope you're enjoying it and don't feel too cold. Alas we never seem to get much of a snow here on the east coast, although I did see the tops of the Mourne mountains had a nice dusting of it.

Weaver it looks so very beautiful. We rarely get snow so it's a pleasure to see it elsewhere - for a while anyway :)

Please send some our way... in time for Christmas! Beatiful photo.

I take it you have plenty of supplies squirrelled away to tide you over and you can enjoy being snowed in for a while.

It looks just wonderful. Not a flake has fallen here in Ireland. I would like a good fall of snow now and then. Am enjoying a 'catch up' of your blog.
