Goodbye to the snow.....

....for now.   There is some talk of it returning for one last time this winter but it has disappeared 'as if by magic' today and Mr and Mrs Blackbird are 'at it' again and the garden is awash with snowdrops, crocus and hellebores.    What a joy to see their appearance in tip top condition as though the snow had never happened.

Not a lot has happened because of the bad weather everything has been at a standstill.   Hopefully I will be back tomorrow with more news.   My friends S and T have been as usual on a Sunday and have just gone.   Any minute now my evening carer will be here.   It will be a relief carer as, sadly, my usual carer has had a bereavement in her close family.   She came this morning but is having the evening off.   See you tomorrow.

Snowdrops and other early flowers usually have no problem with snow. It‘s icy rain on orchards in bloom that causes great problems.
Sorry to hear your carer has lost a family member.

So good to know you were not snowed in without help. I daresay you are delighted to see the flowers in your garden again, even if they might have to hide under another blanket of snow before spring finally shows it's face.

I am often surprised by how quickly the snow can disappear. It was lying quite deep here, but it's all gone except where people have moved it to get their cars out. I'm rather annoyed by the neighbour across the road who seems to think it all right to throw it across into a big pile against our wall.

Lovely for you to have Spring flowers in bloom. It must make your view of the garden so cheerful!

Sorry to hear of your carer's loss but glad to hear that your friends visited and the weather has improved. We're expecting a week of cold off and on rain here but it will make the daffodils and hyacinths last longer.

cheers,

Ceci

No snow here, but I did see a car in town with its roof about an inch deep with the stuff. The owner must have driven in from further north.

I heard a Blackbird singing outside my bedroom window before 6 o'clock on the last couple of mornings, the first signs of a dawn chorus. It seems only a couple of weeks ago when I awoke to the sound of a Tawny Owl calling in the darkness. However unlikely it seems with the present weather, spring is on its way!

The beginnings of Spring when we nurse seedlings and gardens through our unruly weather. I am growing herbs this year, there is always a dearth of chives in the supermarket.
