Bertha's legacy

Bertha's legacy is still bothering us today.   Yesterday was heavy rain.   We had almost two inches in two days, but it was not as bad   as we feared.   Our rivers (mainly the Ure and the Swale) are given to rising up to twenty feet in an hour when conditions are bad, but all that has happened is that they are full.   And they go down again as rapidly as they rise.

Today all that remains is a gale force wind.   This means that I shall dry my washing inside.  I find it difficult to peg the washing on the line when conditions are calm, so shall not attempt it in a gale.

Luckily the sun is shining, the clouds are scudding across the sky and there is no element of gloom and doom.   The news on the radio is depressing enough without the weather matching it.

I am just very glad I am not booked on a ferry  crossing the North Sea in the next few days.   I feel sick just thinking about it.

Bertha is still beating her way round Essex at the moment, though these must be tail winds, with added rain of course. I would not go anywhere near the sea on a boat in this sort of weather, sea-sickness is horrible!

Our weather remains cold and wet; the crops and gardens suffer. Are we ever happy with the weather?

Boats don't bother me, never have in face I quite often go fishing in the other half's boat so it's alot of fun. Take some ginger beer or ginger ale with you.

Here in the Similkameen we are HOT and smoky from fires in Washington State. Very hot, I must say. But it is expected here in summertime so we soak it up to counteract the ice and snow of January. I hope your weather settles soon...

We are having heavy rain and thunder here at the moment and strong winds. But not so bad as yesterday.

I shall remember Amy's suggestion of taking ginger ale.
Thanks for calling in.

Rainy acting here. Makes me have to do everything faster than normal so I don't get caught in it!
