All day the sun has been shining with all its might. Not just a pale, watery sun such as we have caught a glimpse of now and again through the winter months, but a strong, bright sun. Our kitchen windows are large and they both face due West, so you can imagine that getting the tea tonight was quite difficult. The sun dazzled, and to make matters worse my specs have reactolight lenses, so that they went permanently into sunspecs mode. This meant that when I carried the tea tray into the back room by the woodburner, where we always have afternoon tea, where the window faces due North,
I couldn't see there either.
I feel thoroughly ashamed to be complaining about the glorious sun. I think it is because we are so unused to seeing it.
So welcome sunshine - a herald of Spring (we hope).

What a wonderful wake up to Spring !
cheers, parsnip
Down here in Kent we had a thoroughly wet and cold day which only brightened up late afternoon. Doing a monthly bird count on the marsh in the rain this morning was unpleasant.
We had some sun today too after I complained about the rain!

We had some brightness today too but I know what you mean about being dazzled. I think I wear my sunglasses more at this time of year when the sun is so low in the sky, than I do in summer. I think it will be a chilly night - the sky is clear and I can see stars and the moon.
Drizzle on and off all day here on the East Coast today, should be changing to brighter and colder tomorrow
Dry and clear all day in Norfolk. Beautiful sky tonight and Full Moon.
Beautiful sun all weekend and all the way to Wednesday, when temps will go down and rain will fall down. Crocus are in bloom, so there, winter!
After two or three very cold and miserable days, with gale-force winds, it's been a lovely sunny day. Hopefully more sunshine forecast for the rest of the week, but we can never be sure in February, so we'll see.
Hard frosts are forecast...my poor hands as I cycle in, Mr Raynaud's syndrome strikes again
Glad you had a bright one! I had lenses like that and found the only way to change them back to clear glass was to put them in my pocket - only a partial solution if I had to stay working in the bright light for any length of time.
I do hope there's warmth in your sun soon.
We have about a week's worth of 'light rain' forecast. There's nothing worse than light rain.
It was a gorgeous sunny day yesterday here, nearly 15 Celsius in the sun. Today, we're back to rain, but as I'll be spending the whole day at the office, I don't really mind.
Our Mimosa trees here are already flowering. Greetings Maria x
We're only lending you the sun for a few days. Then we want it back.
Looks as though it was one of those days in the UK when it didn't pay to live too near to the East coast. It seems to have been a lovely day inland butnot so lovely by the sea. Thanks for joining in welcoming Spring. Lovely day again today
Sunshine here too, thought the wind and rain washed most of the plum and peach blossoms down, it's still a beautiful day.
