Award from Laughing Horse.

Thank you so much those of you who recommended me for the Award - I am very touched that you think me worthy of it.   Sadly my computer skills do not spread far enough for me to be able to transfer it to my page.  I don't think anyone can do it for me but please be assured that although the Laughing Horse is not smiling/laughing at you all as your read my next post (coming shortly I promise) he is there is spirit.   A Happy New Year to you all from a very wet, miserable day in Wensleydale.

If anyone deserves an award for outstanding writing it's you, Pat. Of course, there are other bloggers who move me one way or another. Say, Rachel. Rachel's blog is quirky, baffling at times. I have never taken mind altering drugs but imagine they are a bit like her. Tom Stephenson. Whilst he hates my guts [I once called him vain - men don't like that, so he severed all contact with me]. He too is an original character - which is why I keep reading him. I find him amusing; to the point.

Then there are bloggers who should also be awarded a trophy. Alas, unlike YP and his "committee" who start at the top, I'd start at the bottom. I can see John weeping with gratitude into one of his snotty hankies now. Till he realizes that he has won gold for all the wrong reasons.

YP - I also called him vain. Like TS he too is a man of principle. Not to mention pride. Once you step on his gout he'll never forgive you. Joint gold with John and Tom. Let the jousting begin.

You mentioned dying. In the last few years two wonderful bloggers have died (no they weren't vain - quite the opposite; neither did they dissolve into tears at every corner; neither did they resort to the lowest common denominator, namely foul mouthing those who don't resonate in their echo chamber). One of them died - as they say - before "his time". He was intelligent, kind, witty, warm. He had a wonderful way of diffusing my comments without rancour, without prejudice(!).

And then there was another - also calm, laid back, full of joy. Generous, charming, open to others' thoughts. We live(d) on different continents so didn't meet though we had visions of us dancing in the rain (monsoon). His blog, my comments, our emails, the occasional phone call. When he died I was stunned. WHAT? How is that possible? He was a fixture in my life. Yes, Pat, I believe it's the ultimate accolade to be remembered so very fondly - even by relative strangers - once the final curtain falls. How I will miss the Weaver of Grass.

My thoughts are with you, may 2024 be kind to you,
Ursula

Congratulations, Pat! No surprise that you won. You are the second blogger I follow that won the award, which I had not heard of before now. Wishing you the best in this coming year.

Congratulations Pat on your award, and also Happy New Year to you.
I have followed you for over twelve years now and my admiration has increased at each challenge, triumph or adjustment you have made during that time. It has been wonderful to be able to smile with you or commiserate. A well-deserved award. - Pam.

I don't even remember how I found you, but I have enjoyed your blog. You do a beautiful job of pulling out stories from your memory bank and breathing life into them once again. I love to read those stories.

Congratulations. Perhaps a small trophy for your mantleplace! LOL.

Never mind the Laughing Horse picture, Pat. As others have pointed out, we know your blog is worth reading, which is why we return all the time and most of us comment on nearly every post of yours. That in itself shows that you manage to hold your readers' attention.
Well done, you!

Glad you won an award Pat, you deserve it. I think it is just copy and paste, or perhaps YP can send in the form of an email. Just as a thought, can the weather get any lousier than it is. I could swear, it has rained every day for the last two months.

Happy New Year to you too Pat, congratulations on the award, well deserved. It's dreary and wet here in Lancashire too.

I hope your son, one of your carers, or a computer savvy neighbor can transfer the Laughing Horse award to your wonderful blog for you. Congratulations on that award!

Didn’t know it was possible to vote but, had I known, you would have got my vote.

I applaud your general optimism (difficult in today’s world), your kindness and acceptance of differing views. You don’t shy away from difficult subjects and allow people to have their say. The comments on your blog are often as interesting as your posts.

Thank you
