As arranged S and K from the Isle of Man (bloggers - or rather S follows my blog but doesn't blog herself) called as they were staying in the area on holiday. We found we knew so many people and places in common that we were almost related!! We had a lovely hour chatting about things before going off for lunch - fish and chips for K and me and ham and eggs for S - and all of it delicious. On our way back to the car K made a detour to look at a row of E type Jaguars in the car park (why is it always men who drool over these?) and then we came back for a cup of tea and another chat about people and places we all three knew. A really lovely day and I really do thank them for taking a day out of their holiday to visit me. Once again it shows me the power - and the pleasure of blogging.
The sky is a clear blue and the forecasters tell us that this is the last really good day we shall have for the next week at least. The gardens are ready for rain but I don't think any of us are really.
'Strictly come dancing' starts tonight - that is a real sign of Autumn and I suspect many a household will be glued to the screen as all the couples make their hesitant way around the dance floor. I am not sure whether or not I shall watch - it is beginning to be a bit tedious I think.
Whatever you are doing - enjoy your Saturday evening.

Sounds like a very good day, and with fellow Manx residents too! The clouds have already rolled in here, although it is still warm. We shall have rain by tonight we are told. I am opening my Saturday evening bubbles and trying out a curried beef recipe this evening. Enjoy the rest of your day and hope your garden gets a decent watering.
I agree, meeting bloggers is brilliant.
Anyone visiting Suffolk?
I had a lovely B&B holiday in IOM a few years ago. And yes, there really are cats with no tails.
I'm watching strictly
It sounds as if you had a lovely day with your friends. I have watched Strictly tonight and it promises to be a good series. The battle lines have been drawn already and a few of the couples show promise of greater things to come.
Hope your garden gets a good drink. I have so enjoyed the recent weather - so much nicer than the humidity of summer.
What fun to visit with your blog friends and thank goodness you had nice weather. Hope you get a nice rain, we will have (they say) three days of very heavy rain. That is bad news for us.

Sounds like you had a really enjoyable day. The countryside around here could certainly do with a little rain now that harvest is all done. "Strictly" is just one of the reasons I don't have a TV!
Thanks, Weaver, and so glad you had a pleasant day with pleasant company.
I watched the first few minutes of the dancing, then went to bed. We are promised some rain for today, it'll be the first for ages. My fingers are crossed.
Rain is forecast for the south of England today, Sunday, some of it heavy but as usual, the forecast suggests that it will fizzle out to just light showers by the time it gets here on Sheppey, where we badly need it. We're starting to get problems now on the reserve with the cattle getting stuck in the ditches, as they have to walk out further into the soft mud to get to the water where the ditches have shrunk back so much in this drought. We then have to get farm reach-stackers out, try and get strops round the cattle and lift them out. If only we could get some heavy rain!
Rain is forecast here for tomorrow; in fact, all or most of next week is supposed to be rainy and chilly. Suits me, since a) we really need the rain and b) it's back to work for me on Monday after a wonderful two weeks off.
So nice to have had friends from the blogosphere visiting! I know I said I'd try to meet up with you when in Yorkshire, too, but somehow we didn't manage to get to your area. Easier of course for those who drive; things always take a lot longer and can be rather complicated by bus.
It sounds like you had a very enjoyable day with your blogger friends. I don't know whether I will watch Strictly this year. I didn't last year, which was the first year I hadn't. I might watch last night's on catch-up and see how it grabs me. We had heavy rain here in Devon overnight and its forecast to be raining on and off all day. Still, my leeks need the water!
A mysterious blog. Are they from your area originally and so know many people you know? Or do you mean they 'know' bloggers? Tourists normally do not know people in the area they are visiting.
Rachel - in answwer to your question S does not blog but she does enjoy reading other people's blogs - including mine. That is how I come to meet them. And very enjoyable it was too.
Yes, I understand that. But you have not answered my question. In your post you said "we found so many people and places in common that we were almost related". So you meant blogs did you?
As I interpreted Pat's comments, it appears that during chatting at her house with S it appeared that they both knew of similar locations and people in Yorkshire, presumably by visiting them and that their knowledge and interest in the two was so close that they could "almost be related" - a common statement to make.
Just been to see the new "Downton Abbey" - it was really excellent.
So you come to a county as a visitor and you randomly visit PEOPLE and it turns out you both know them? Well that really is a small world. The "almost related" part was understood by me and not the point I was making.
Sometimes life works like that Rachel, I doubt that Pat's delightful blog was intended to be as complicated as you are trying to make it.
I was not talking to you. If Weave prefers to ignore me so be it. I just find it puzzling.
What a shame
How lovely to meet fellow folk from Blogland. I have made a few good friends this way. Saturday was our last day of sunshine too and we made the most of it.
