The day started 'off kilter' and it has been like this all day until about half an hour ago when I at last caught up. My beloved God-daughter is coming straight from work and staying for the night and I planned a supper at home with a bottle of good wine so that we could relax and catch up on things.
I had a lot planned to do. My Tesco order was due to arrive between eight and nine this morning and it came at a minute to nine. This meant that I could not take Tess for her morning walk in case they came and I had a hair appointment booked for nine thirty and a plan to get my strawberries and pick up my prescription before I went to the hairdresser. Just got there in time.
My mobility is very poor and where I used to dash round the shops I now have great difficulty - I had two Scotch eggs (sorry John) on order at the Deli and they were still to be collected. By the time I got home I was very tired indeed and it was lunch time. I did a quick jacket potato in the micro and then walked round the block with Tess. When I came back I made myself sit down for an hour and do the puzzles in the Times. Now I have set the table, put the wine to chill, and am just about to make a Tartiflette ready for her arrival at six. See you tomorrow.

I could just eat a slice of ham and a piece of pork pie. Not sure what a tartiflette is but, whatever, you will both have plenty to eat. Enjoy your evening together Weave. Lovely day here, 22 C, and very close.
I know you are a wonderful hostess and you are wise to sit for a bit, I sometimes make myself do that. You accomplished a lot, including the all important walks for Tess, and of course good for you too. Bounce says hello to Tess.
What is a tartiflette? How nice to have a guest to spend the evening with, catching up over a nice meal and a bottle of wine is something I love to do on a Friday night when I finally get to see O.K. again after a full and busy week.
You make good pies up there.
I do not know how you get through so much! Enjoy your visitor. I am sure she will.
You are a generous and thoughtful host, Pat. Enjoy your evening. X
That food looks scrummy, your God-daughter is going to be well fed.
Oh my, I do love to read of your doings... and see them, as when you post pictures of this lovely food!
Have a wonderful visit.
Read poems!
I had to look up tartiflette. Sounds delicious. Have a wonderful evening. You deserve a rest tomorrow!
You are an excellent hostess! Everything looks delicious. Enjoy your evening!
Haven't had a pork pie for ages - I shall now be tempted. I shall now look up tartiflette too
What a beautiful presentation - it looks delicious and so inviting. It'll be so much enjoyment you'll forget about the hectic morning.
I am out of breath in sympathy for your careful plans going so awry. I am sure everything was as it should be by the time your god-daughter arrived and that your evening meal was delicious. Enjoy the weekend.
A beautiful platter. I love your butter dish! I hope you recovered and had a beautiful visit.
What a beautiful dinner. The little pies look so tempting.
I am sure you had a wonderful time.

Phew! indeed. Hope your new hair do survived it all.
Joanne - We bought that butter dish in the US - I think in Montpelier - many years ago. I love it too.
Librarian - a Tartiflette is a concoction of small new potatoes, lardons, red onions, thyme, garlic, white wine and creme fraiche - all cooked and then put into a dish, covered with a deep layer of cheese and baked until it is crisp on the outside. It is scrummy.
Rachel - I am so envious of your weather. We still have a sharp wind blowing every day so it is not all that warm. Now - at teatime - the sun is just beginning to come out for the first time today.
Steady on Pat, it'll quickly get too warm for you. Bone dry here and 28 degrees forecast tomorrow.
