Young Musician of the Year.

I have been watching the Young musician of the Year final on the television this evening.   The standard of music from the three finalists, each one playing with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, was staggering and I personally found the performance of Lauren, the pianist, who played Prokofiev, quite overwhelming.    At sixteen she was able to put such an adult interpretation on to what is recognised as one of the most difficult pieces to play and I was so pleased when she won.

I don't think there was a dry eye in the house - there certainly wasn't in this one.

I missed it. I do remember seeing the competition in years past; I'm always in awe of the competitors.

The talent of these young people is amazing. And not a ukulele in sight!

A wonderful competition which I have been watching all the way through. Miss Zhang was a very deserving winner on the piano. So young, talented and composed way beyond her years. The saxophonist and the cellist boys were also outstanding finalists.

I too missed it. Probably because the Antiques Roadshow was not on.

I missed it this year for some reason, but am astounding by the level of excellence in the performances. It seems to get better each time and is something I usually enjoy and get caught up in.

Yes, all three of the competitors were inspiring but I think it was the mature performance Lauren gave to Prokofiev at the young age of only sixteen which just gave her the edge.
