Monday

If only it wasn't  cold life would be so much easier.   The sun keeps shining on and off but that  east wind off the North sea makes everywhere icy cold.

Speaking to the solicitor this morning it does seem that things are all coming together.   I dare not say it too loudly but mid June does sound to be a possible moving date.

Yesterday my son and his wife went to the garden centre and returned with about a dozen boxes, all flat-packed, so I can begin to sort out some things for packing now.   All I need is the enthusiasm to start - today sadly lacking.

Tomorrow a group of us are going out for breakfast - perhaps that will fill me with energy.
I am off for a ukulele practise now.

Enjoy your breakfast tomorrow. It's good to be surrounded by friends. How was your ukulele practise? Have you ever heard the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain? I saw a film about one of its performances some years ago. It was so beautiful.

Just do a little each day. Even an hour is an hour done that wouldn't have been if you hadn't done it. My brother and I used to stop at the minute we felt we had had enough. If we pushed on too long we just couldn't do it. I hope you understand.

The wind is easing. I an well understand packing up is going to be difficult. Another hurdle to such a large change in your life. Enjoy the ukulele and just do a bit of packing at a time.

Pat, I don't know if I missed it or am just being nosy, for which I apologize if that's the case. Why are you moving away so fast? I guess one reason I ask, is that was the worst thing I've done in years, moving two times in a month two Octobers ago.

Packing can be physically and emotionally difficult. I spent months before we left the US throwing things away, donating items, selling items and we still had too much to move! Toward the end, I hired some movers to come and pack the last of it. They were so much faster than I was because they didn't have an emotional attachment to the items. Wish I had hired them earlier in the process! As Donna implied, don't rush unless you have too.

So sorry it’s so bitter cold
rather the same here.
Can’t think why we put our winter coats in storage this morning.
Have fun with the ukulele!
My poor grandson’s ukeleie career is on hold while he recovers from breaking his thumb!

You have been doing so much that a cold windy day makes it hard, I think ?

cheers, parsnip

It seems sad that you are having to move so quickly. Two very traumatic events in a short amount of time would be a lot to cope with for anyone.

I hate the thought of packing even for a short trip. I hope your son helps you when it becomes too difficult.

Thank you for your good wishes on my blog. Hope the sorting and packing goes well and enjoy a hearty breakfast. So right about the weather, we keep having chilly, windy cloudy days which don't inspire me to do anything in the garden at all.

It has been chilly hasn't it? But the weather people say that the wind direction will change round by the end of this week. So you're having "Energy" for breakfast? My favourite cereal.

It's totally freezing today! Worker bees have started to appear now however!

Things are moving on well for you by the sound of it. I shan't be moving until mid-July at the earliest. Hope your breakfast gives you the energy you need for all that packing. Take it gently - it is very tiring. I am looking forward to more warmth. The sun does it's best but as you say, that cold wind really cuts at times. Hope you enjoyed your ukulele practice.

Enjoy the ukulele practice and the breakfast tomorrow. Don't worry too much if the packing is depressing, put on some music and just get on with it.

Things will come together. Maybe you need more boxes, first.

Learning to play the ukulele sounds fun. I should try something new. Go luck on your packing! Don't push yourself to hard.

The more cardboard boxes, the better. Moving is a pain, but if everything is packed away (and well marked) it makes life just that tiny bit more agreeable.

Leaving a place that you've enjoyed and loved is difficult at the best of times but leaving it without your partner must be even more difficult. I hope that your new home will quickly make you feel welcome.

A Herculean task, and some days it seems just Too Difficult! One box at a time, and having Days Off (that's plural days!!) is the answer I think. And breakfast, or coffee, or lunch with friends frequently. Hope the weather improves soon.

It's gone back to winter here too. I wish for you that your packing be over and done soon.

Thanks for all the encouraging words everyone. I am indeed doing a little at a time and that makes it more satisfying because it is not so tiring. I am down to the last fifty or so books and that will be my task today when I return from my all day breakfast.

Your story and your special tin brought a tear, which isn't that hard for me actually. ( If I come back in a second life it will be as a leaky faucet!) I think you are doing so well with all you have on your plate so good for you. Be sure to pace yourself so you don't overdo. What a lot of good friends you have for support.
