First of all can I just say how touched I am by all your messages on the Farmer's health. You will never know just how much they mean to us and how they are helping us to get through it all.
To update - we have been to see the Specialist today. The brain tumour is a Grade 4, the worst kind, and is inoperable. The farmer is on high doses of steroids and goes next week to discuss having Radiotherapy.
He is in good heart and manages to feed the hens each morning, and the wild birds, and take Tess for three short walks each day.
He sends his thanks to you all too.
Oh, my heart goes out to you both!
ReplyDeleteSending much love from the Valley.

Oh Pat, I feel for you both so much. I wish I could do more than send very positive thoughts for a miraculous result. I am glad the Farmer is able to enjoy small outside activities. Very best wishes to both of you.XX
ReplyDeleteI wish I could be there to help you both.
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs !
cheers, parsnip
So glad the farmer is having some enjoyment. Quality of life is all important. Hope the treatment works for him. Love to you both.
ReplyDeleteI think quality is key here and just hope the doctor can discuss at length all the pros and cons. I have known a stage 4 glioblastoma patient that lived for 9 years so keep your chins up. I do hope there might be some experimental treatments available since the farmer is in such good health. Thank you for telling us and much love to you both.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you.
ReplyDeleteRadiation saved my husband's life and added ten+ years to a dear friend. There is hope.
ReplyDeleteI think of you both so often and am glad that the farmer can get out and about a bit. It is so good to read Donna Baker's comment which sounds so positive and I hope for a similar outcome for the farmer. Every good wish to you both.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the update, like Robin Mac I wish there was more I could do, stay positive. Love to you both.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you both at this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteI do hope they can slow down progression, in the meantime I hope he continues to enjoy the every day things
ReplyDeleteThinking of you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for finding time to update us. It must be very painful for you both at present so I do appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteEvery day I have been looking to see if there's news but not really expecting you to have the time or energy to post. Take care of yourself. Have some breaks and try to see some of you coffee/lunch friends if possible.
You need to be strong and healthy so that you can support the farmer through this.
I will be praying for you both, Sue
Thinking of you both.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you and the Farmer. We have had experience with brain tumours in our family as well. Take joy and happiness in the small and ordinary things. Thinking of you... -Jenn
ReplyDeleteGlad he is comfortable and has you there to take care of him.
ReplyDeleteOh Pat, I have popped in each day hoping for good news - my heart is heavy for you both. I'm glad The Farmer is still finding tasks he can manage and enjoy. I hope your medical team can put the best care plan in place, enabling him to enjoy high quality living for a long time yet. Prayers and best wishes to you both. Thinking of you both.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I was hoping that his prognosis would be better than that. But it is good that he can still feed the wild birds and the chickens and take Tess out for walks and it is a blessing that he is at home where the heart is.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you and the farmer. Hope you both can keep your spirits up and know that we all have in our hearts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine what a shock this is for you both. I wish you both peace and the grace that comes in times like these. You will be in my prayers each night and I wish the Farmer many more beautiful days. Much Love, Pamela
ReplyDeleteThe world holds you and the Farmer in their hearts. All the best, Pat.
ReplyDeleteGood to know that at least he is able to enjoy each day as it comes. And who knows, these such days may well continue for many more years to come.
ReplyDeleteI send you both my love and very best wishes.
You are both in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI just checked in to see if there was a new post, and was so sad to read that the tumour is inoperable. I am glad that your husband is able to get out and walk your dog and feed the hens, such pleasant things to do. I started reading your blog within the last few months and have been enjoying it - I grew up on farms in Hertfordshire and Kent, and now live in Canada. I just wanted to say I'm thinking of you both and sending you good wishes. Wishing you many days of enjoying your life together.
ReplyDeleteoh my!! My heart is with you both.. a big hug..
ReplyDeleteSending you both love and my very best wishes. I'm so glad the farmer can enjoy walks with Tess and feeding the birds. Being comfortable at home is the best medicine.

ReplyDeleteDoing the things he most enjoys doing must be the best medicine. My very best wishes to you both. Cro x
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you were able to write an update Pat even though it's not the one I really wanted to hear. Be brave and strong, there are so many ways known today to provide treatments other than surgery. The Farmer is strong and I'm sure a fighter - his life on the land has made him that way, and I can tell you are a woman who doesn't allow the grass to grow under her feet. Stand beside him when you meet with the doctors, ask questions, and understand that you have to fight sometimes to get what you want. Both my husband and myself have faced and beaten cancer - I pray the Farmer will have more years to do the things he loves just as we do and are thankful for.
ReplyDeleteThoughts and prayers continue for you both. Many people love you, think highly of you and wish you well.
