Yet another day today when it has never got completely light. There has been a fairly thick fog and lights have been on all day (that goes for in the house and in the car). The weather isn't cold - eight degrees on the dashboard when I went to the hairdresser this afternoon - but it is just very dismal weather. And both the farmer and I are noticing that our arthritis is very much worse today - it is as though the cold wet weather has got into our bones.
On the way home from the hairdresser I called in at our Surgery to collect our drugs for over the Christmas and New Year Periods. It saves a lot of work both for me and for them over the next couple of weeks and they are only too happy to provide them in advance.
I also took them in a tin of shortbread, as I do every year. They are a jolly good team there - the reception staff and the dispensary staff- and it does no harm at all at Christmas to thank them for being so cheerful and helpful throughout the year.
They came out to say thank you and to wish us both a Merry Christmas - it's always good to say thank you.
Although such things play havoc with hairstyles, I almost wish it would blow a gale tomorrow - just to get rid of this wretched fog. Still - only another six days to go to the shortest day!
It is bright blue sunny skies and to hot weather. 76 today but tomorrow it will be 67 and rain (yes please) and then do to 59 by Saturday and Sunday, We can not wait.

Damp and dreary here too and ridiculously mild for December. It is supposed to be colder again at the weekend I believe. Layers off, layers on again.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that surgery and health centre staff aren't all overweight - we too take a tin of biscuits in each Christmas!
Apart from a beautiful sunny day yesterday, the rest of the week here and last weekend has been grey, murky and exceedingly damp. Everything seems to be dripping wet and like you, my arthritic joints are playing up badly. What I'd give for a hot, sunny day.

ReplyDeletePlease don't complain about the rain and dampness. It is -7C here (-17C with the wind chill) and the north wind today was so strong it was whipping the snow into mammoth drifts. You daren't go out unless well bundled up with several layers and a sturdy hat and gloves. I am just happy to know the shortest day is less than a week away!

We are in the middle of a nasty winter storm here. I think that is very sweet that you give a gift to the pharmacy staff. My very good friend is a pharmacist and she commented that it was incredibly busy today at her work. Maybe everyone was doing the same as you. -Jenn

ReplyDeleteThis dark grey weather is completely depressing, everything outside constantly wet. We try to give to the refuse collectors, postman and milkman. Good people who roll up on your doorstep each day.

ReplyDeleteI tip every delivery that comes here and every all year round delivery person gets a Christmas Box as we still call it in these parts. The doctor gets presents from P and postcards from me for all the care P gets.
