Another day out.

To Kirby Lonsdale today to meet friends P and D for lunch in the Italian - delicious as usual.

The journey was spectacular - we both agreed - Wensleydale and the Lune valley at their very best.    The fields were full of buttercups just coming into flower and the roadsides were thick with bistort and with glorious ox-eye daisies.

I took photographs on the way.  No point in saying where they are - suffice to say they are in beautiful North Yorkshire Dales.   Enjoy.
This is the market town of Hawes, home of the Wensleydale Cheese, and the only 'town' we pass through on the journey.

  3. Beautiful scenery on a perfect day. I am recalling the Yorkshire Garden at Chelsea this year - the man who created it captured the character of his home county so well. So pleased he won a Gold Medal and the People's Choice medal.

  7. I see the stocks are still in situ on the green in Bainbridge. I used to live in the house at the far end just beyond the cars in the photograph.

  13. Looks beautiful, the buttercups run in ribbons here next to the sown fields but the cloud refuses to lift.

  14. Sue - the green always looks pristine - apart from when the travellers pass through on their way to Appleby Horse Fair - then sometimes it is left less than perfect. Just a few of them tend to get all a bad name sadly.

Glad you all enjoyed the journey. The photos are a bit blurred but friend W only slowed down rather than stopping - it is too dangerous as the roads are not quite as empty as these photos suggest.

  15. Simply glorious. Our ox eye daisies are in full bloom right now in Washington state - and it is a great year for them - giant swaths all along the hiways - they look like massive mounds of snow - thick and white - and they go on sometimes for miles - it is fabulous.
