Work....

...whether I feel like it or not. Rachel says today she just doesn't feel like doing anything. I woke up feeling much the same but of course I had to get up; there is no lie-in when you've got a dog. I ate my solitary breakfast and watched my usual half hour of Breakfast Television (I turn it off after half an hour because it repeats itself). Then I had a sudden spurt of energy and sent out a rush of e mails and the result is that I have got a tentative moving date.
Nothing is absolutely sure (is it ever?) but it is sure enough to book the removal firm. This fired me into a spurt of doing one or two jobs - packing all my shoes into one suitcase and all my summer T shirts into another. This has been done on the advice of the chap who came to look round regarding removals. Then I wrote one or two letters about moving and ticked them off my list and I must say that at the end of all this (and cooking a lunch) I did feel decidedly better.
Not being able to drive is very frustrating - I do appreciate that it is necessary but that doesn't make it any easier to bear. I live a couple of miles out of town and a mile from a bus stop so I rely largely on friends, although I have managed to book a taxi for the morning when I have to have an E C G and then later on a hairdressing appointment. But being in a state of limbo is not an easy thing to put up with, especially when one is used to being so independent. Patience is never a quality I have been particularly endowed with. I apologise for the lack of paragraphing. I have written the piece in paragraphs but blogger has decided to have a mind of its own and is refusing my size of print and my paragraphing. I shall be patient.
**I now see that John's post on Kingfisher 'doesn't exist' according to blogger so at least I am not alone in my problems.

  1. If you click on something that looks like TT on the page you type a post on you will be able to alter the font size to a larger size. If not for this one, maybe the next. Anyway no worries, we can read it. Positive thinking coming from here for you that all will be sorted with the move completion date and future driving soon.xx

  3. I really feel for you not being able to drive, tho you havent said why. I am waiting for my second cataract op tho I pass the test for driving as my other eye which has been done is 20/20 vision. But while waiting for the first - when I still passed the driving test - someone 'tipped 'off DVLA and I had my licence removed. Took some time to get that sorted but I got it back. But not driving was hell.

  8. I am low energy today too, a leftover of last week's turmoil at my house. That is a clever idea to pack shoes and tee shirts in two suitcases, I guess so you can find them easily after the move.

  9. It is Monday here too, - no energy to do all the things I had planned so I decided to do just half of them and re-charge the rest of the time!!! So glad things are moving along for you Pat, and 'the move' is in sight.

  11. Both Rachel and you do not have to do anything that you do not want to do. Relish it!

  12. when you move, will you be able to walk about town to the places you need to go?

  13. I expect you'll be pleased when it's all over. By Christmas it'll all be a nasty memory; the move, not the farm.

  14. I love this post. Mondays can be most productive even though we hate them. Will hope that your new place will give you more freedom to roam about. Hope it will happen as soon as you want it.

  17. Yay, a tentative moving date!! You are really doing admirably well, even people much younger and healthier than you rarely get so much accomplished in a day, especially not on a day they wake up to feeling like doing nothing.

  18. Frustrating not being able to drive and relying on others. I wouldn't like it either. Good news about the move date though. Fingers crossed. My energy's been low for a week or two too, maybe the changing weather has something to do with it?

  19. I think you have been amazing all these past months. I just wish I was there to drive you and help out - I'd even go to lunch at those tasty restaurants and pubs, haha!
Good luck with the continuing moving plans - I just know all will eventually work out and you and Tess will be moved in, getting settled before winter hits, and be comfy in your new home.
    Hang in there Pat.

  20. That awful state of limbo - I hated it - and even a tentative date gives a feeling of hope. I hope you get the 'green light' soon.

  21. .Thanks everyone for the boost.
My reason for not driving is that I have had two quite minor Transient Ischaemic Attacks, both in my right eye and now have to have a period while they are investigated - back to the specialist on November 15th.
Lots of good friends helping out and lunches out as usual.
