Tess

Tess, my dear friend and companion through thick and thin, was put to sleep at lunch time today -may she rest in peace and dream of rabbits.

    I have held many a paw as they slip away, and I know how hard it is for you. Beautiful Tess will sleep now free from being scared of the 'unknown' of illness in a dog's world. We are their companions but also guardians, making decisions for them. xxx

    I am so sorry for your loss of Tess. It is so very difficult to set them free when their life isn't happy and healthy anymore.     Oh Pat, I'm so sorry that there was no simple cause of Tess's discomfort. I had hoped it would need a change of medication and reduction of exercise to allow her more quality time with you, but obviously there was more of a problem. I too have known the grief of having to make the decision to have a beloved companion animal put to sleep and have known the sadness of looking fr him/her and then remembering.     I am overwhelmed by your kindness. It is four in the morning, I can't sleep because of my sadness, my computer is on the blink for some reason but am managing to get this thank you on before it goes off again. Thank you all so much for your words of kindness. I know that, with the help of friends there with me I made the right decision - the vet thought that part of her brain had gone and she no longer knew what she was doing. I shall miss her every single minute - but as you say - happy memories will prevail one day. Love to you all.

Having lost our prior beloved dog after a lifetime of special care due to her pancreatitis, and now a bit edgy due to our present "rescue" dog's age and the possibility of losing her, my heart goes out to you.     I realized a couple of years ago when I lost my first dog that had been mine as an adult, just how intense the pain and sadness is. It is a different kind of grief and the worst I've ever experienced. As with all grief you can't do anything but just work through it. Thank you for being so good to Tess.
