This afternoon we played ukuleles for a group in Richmond - these were people with forms of dementia and it was a pleasure to play for them and their carers because they enjoyed it so much and sang along with such gusto.
Now I am home again and the Chiropodist has been and I feel as though I am walking on air.
Coming into the empty house is hard and I am still at the stage where I need to keep busy. My son has been back to the Specialist today and can carry on as normal, so let's hope all is well this time.

Such good news about your son - he must be so relieved, as must you. It is odd how a visit from the Chiropodist can make one's whole body feel better. You must all have had fun this afternoon playing for those dementia patients and their carers - a happy afternoon all round.
It must be lovely to go and cheer up people who are house bound, must make such a difference to their lives.
Do you pop the radio on when you come in. When Col was in hospital for weeks I found 5 live good as there are very few recorded programmes so you know that there is someone there - if you see what I mean.
Very good news about your son
Take Care
Keep an eye on the Post Pat!!! I'am so impressed with you learning how to play an instrument... We have a keyboard and i took some summer classes several years ago and i still have the book and i've often thought of sitting down and pursuing it some more... I always say when life slows down but honestly does it ever??? I think we just make time for the things that are important to us...Hugs! deb
Like you I always feel better when I've had my feet done. Mostly do myself but treat them to a professional job about once a year. Feet are very important of course . . . we do ask a lot of them, often stuffing them into shoes that pinch or socks that itch.
That is good news about your son and walking on air. We do take those things for granted until they act up.
Glad your son's eyes are better, I know that's a relief. I agree about having the radio on. No one likes an empty house. What a joy that you were able to bring pleasure to those poor people.
Playing must have been really good today. I think the radio is a good idea too..
Happy to hear your son is better.
The musical show sounds like it was fun.
I had the radio on low for some company.
cheers, parsnip
I really admire you, Weave. So glad to hear good news for your son.
What good news you have heard and shared with us about your son's eyes.
Your ukulele group entertaining others must have been fun for all. What are some of the songs you all chose for that audience. Were requests made beforehand?
The heat and humidity continue to embrace NYC. Tomorrow I will meet a dear friend at the Met Museum to see an exhibit in the Japanese galleries. The theme is bamboo, and I expect to be dazzled.
Lunch will follow. All will take place in air conditioning, before I take the super chilly crosstown bus home to my cross-ventilated apartment. All in the mix. xo
Weave, reading about your day to day life you sound to be much busier than most people. Keep it up, and you'll be fine. I expect when you move you'll feel less alone.
So glad to hear good news about your son's eyes. And lovely to imagine your group playing ukulele for those people...When my husband, who had Alheimer's was in a rehab facility for a time around Christmas, a wonderful choir came around singing Christmas carols for us and everyone enjoyed it amazingly. It meant so much.
Like Kristi (Thickethouse), I am so glad about the good news reg. your son's eyes; as I have mentioned before, I have serious problems with my left eye, too, so I can very well relate to this.
Also glad to hear everyone enjoyed the ukulele performance - you as much as the listeners and sing-alongers!
Your life sounds like a helter-skelter of perpetual motion.
Good news about your son. A relief all round. I've never been to a chiropodist but I'm glad your feed are delighted with their once-over!
It sounds like the Ukele playing went down a treat with the old folk and I am sure gave you much pleasure too.
Photos of the house for you on my blog.
Well done on the ukulele performance! Next stop The Albert Hall... well maybe Leyburn Village Hall!
Strange how demented people get their voices back with music. Tell your son to get up! I am pleased all is ok.
Good to hear that your son is recovering.Your walking on air comment makes me want a chiropodist!
Requests in the ukulele playing? Well we play all the old favourites - but they just like to sing along with whatever we give them really.
Thanks for your replies.
