I am still coming to terms with the new Blogger.  Everyone tells me that when I get used to it I shall like it much better, but in the meantime there are so many things which I suddenly cannot do any more.   One of them is create spaces and paragraphs.

Although I carefully space and paragraph my posts, when they are up on my blog they are all condensed into one paragraph.   Tom has already suggested he needs new glasses to read it and various friends who read it but don't themselves blog have said that the font is just too small to read when it is all so compacted.

So I have made another step forward and seen how to alter the font size (I know - it is a simple enough thing, but I have not been clicking on compose, so I have not been getting a good line of instructions across the top! )

Now I have somehow got to crack paragraphing.  If anyone has any ideas, please send me help.

Can Blogger sense when you want something, I ask?   Lo and behold I put this blog up and it is all done correctly.  I never cease to be amazed - Google can obviously read my mind.   Keep blogging I say.

  1. Well done Pat. I have found that Blogger has a mind of it's own and even though I have done as instructed by my daughter I don't always get what I asked for. Try as I might I cannot get the text where I want it on posts with a lot of pictures. When I try to correct it I lose a picture which is very frustrating on my coursework blog. Inspite of selecting my prefered alignment, only after typing text under 4 or 5 pictures can text be typed from the far left of the page, but not before. I just don't understand it.

  2. This looks fine, easy to read and clear. I have given up my blog so am not up to speed with the changes made by Blogger. You seem to have cracked it. Rachel

  3. I just type my text straight in - don't do it in Word first, as that can confuse matters, and then put the photos where I want them, and it all falls into place. It maybe that it is not working so well in your browser - if you are using Explorer it would be worth changing to Firefox, as Explorer can cause problems. But it all looks fine to me!

  5. I would stick to the larger font size, Pat — it is definitely clearer to read. The paragraphing seems fine.

  6. A few times I've opened my blog and discovered the font has changed! I'm not sure why any of this happens. Perhaps Blogger just isn't as friendly as we'd like it to be! ; )
Looks like all is well now!

  7. Much better Pat. The last one was a bit difficult but we all persevere because we are interested in what you have to say.
I use Picasa - a Google free download to manage photos- and I load the photos on a post first, save it as a draft, then change things around when I add text.If I want more photos I import them where I want to place them. Wish I was closer and I'd drop around to see if I could show you!
Anyhow the post looks great and I love to hear about your life in the dales- my favourite place in England (and did you hear that Yorkshire has just been named the top tourist destination in England ?No surprise to me !!)
    Cheers

  10. I had typing mistakes in the comment I deleted and didn't notice them on time, but what I said basically was that you should hang in there and that you will be a pro at it in no time and will wonder why you ever thought it was difficult. You're a smart enough woman to learn the trick.

  11. Sounds like you do a lot more complicated things than I do. I just do as Pomona does and it comes out fine -- fine but simple. I wonder what I'm missing. I'm too chicken to try and find out. If it ain't broke, I won't try to fix it.

  12. I had said previously I've not got new Blogger but in fact I have, I'd just forgotten as I'm so used to it now. Which isn't to say I've fathomed all its quirks, I still have issues with font size for one.... But my point really is, you will get used to it and it does make more sense the longer you're with it.

  16. There is a small check box on the right side someplace that says 'use carriage returns to force line feeds' or something similar. That should be checked on, then you will get paragraphs. I had that problem too until I noticed.
