We'll have to get used to it.

Yes, it's here - Autumn I mean.   Sunny today but the wind is in the North and out of the sun it is chilly.  Thinking  of the price of electricity and gas I - like most of you I suppose - am keeping my heating off as long as possible and resorting to  a blanket.

This morning I did three laps of the patio quite easily and after lunch (fish with new potatoes and salad  - delicious) put my order for Tesco on line just before M came along with our next months book for Book Group.    We had a nice hour's chat and now I am chatting to you all before having my tea.

The queue seems to grow longer to file past HM the Queen's catafalque - so impressive and the people so respectful.   And I was pleased to read in The Times that HM the King is having a day at his residence - Highgrove - relaxing apart from reading the despatch box.

Enjoy your evening - keep warm and I'll be back tomorrow.

Yes, it's Fall here as well. Breezy and cool in Massachusetts. 3 laps around the patio sounds very good. Being outside in the cool is quite enjoyable.

I was just a year old when Elizabeth became Queen. I remember even as a young child how excited my mother, who was English, was about her. A picture of Elizabeth hung in our house for years, as my mother never became an American citizen. I have always admired the Queen's Stateline, decorum, good humor and quiet wisdom. I would be an anti-Royalist if I were English, but that does not mean one can't admire a great woman. Your country has had so much change in just a few days, yet managed it a with dignity. Very impressive.

I too am going to have to read The Canterbury Tales again. I read it in college but would like to read it now for my own pleasure.

A very cold wind here today but our heating is staying off for now. Evenings are spent with a hot water bottle on my lap and then my warm pyjamas in bed.

I'm afraid I am still revelling in not feeling hot and clammy! A lovely fresh breeze this morning though I was glad of a light scarf at the neck of my jumper.
I hope all the members of the Royal family are able to make the most of a weekend off, before the funeral on Monday. The pressure on them for the past few days has been relentless.

Our nights are getting cooler (about 17*C?) but the days are still 30-34*C for another week or two. Time will tell.
Well done on your patio walks and your meals sound yummy.
I'd hope to get a border sewn on one side of the Christmas quilt I'm making, but my energy was used doing other things. Bother!

Hugs!

It is feeling autumnal here, as well, Weave. I'm not really glued to the tv regarding the Queen's funeral procession, and other events, but I can appreciate how it is a very big thing for people there. -Jenn

Hello there, I read your blog daily but don't think I've ever commented. Thanks for all the insights into your life and thoughts. I love them.
I too have been watching The Queen's final Journey and intend to stay up all night Monday to watch the funeral. I live in New Zealand so am 12 hours time difference! My mother passed away two and a half months ago. She was an ardent royalist and so I'm watching and shedding tears on her behalf. I hope King Charles can relax a little on his day off. I can't imagine being in the public eye so much while grieving.
Good thoughts to you for today.

Florida hot but here on the coast almost always a breeze and frequent showers…the people lining up to honor the Queen is sweet…

It is definitely colder. I forgot about fall.

It has suddenly turned chilly here this week. Next week we will be back up in the 80s with no rain in the forecast. I plan on hauling out the livingroom carpet and powerwashing it before winter moves in. The week after next, however, different kettle of fish all together. It will be 20 degrees colder and a week of rain.

I think after the funeral that Charles should spend some time at Balmoral. It would do him a world of good before taking-up his new Regal duties.

I hover on the line between republican and royalist. The latter because of the tradition and somehow it brings our nation together. But sense and logic says why do we allow a small family so much lee way. But honouring the Queen for what she was, is I believe what is due to her.
The North wind doth blow though and a distinct change in temperature here.
