Thursday

As the day has progressed today so the weather has improved.   Now, at tea-time, the sky is blue, the sky has puffy white clouds and it is very warm - a lovely end to the day.   I think everyone is now hoping the weather is set fair for Saturday and a good day for The Wensleydale Show.   Looking at the weather map it seems as though at long last - the South East-has had a long, heavy fall of rain - Derek's corner of the country might have made up a bit of lost ground.

I woke up this morning to a wet morning - a necklace of raindrops on the washing-line and a wet patio - so we had a good rain overnight.   Since then the day here has got steadily better.

I believe A Level results are out now.   It is so good to see photographs of A Level students heading for Oxford on the front of our local paper - all those years of hard study have paid off.   Such wonderful opportunities these days for our young people providing they are willing to work hard.

And for those not destined for University  there are interesting jobs in our little town for young people willing to work hard.   Those were the days I think, viewed from the other end of the spectrum.

Enjoy these last few lazy, hazydays of Summer while they last - they are fast drawing in and Autumn - in the shape of September - arrives next week.   See you tomorrow,

Got a lot of pruning done in the garden today - decent weather and not too hot or humid.

It's cool at 6 AM in the morning here and then quickly becomes quite warm and humid. I am looking forward to Fall weather and coolness throughout the day.

I'd love to say that we did indeed have a good fall of rain but it wasn't the case, Sheppey has an incredible knack of diverting rain away from itself.
I spent a frustrating morning knowing that Sussex, Surrey and much of Kent were getting violent storms and torrential rain, while Sheppey stayed dry. Eventually at lunch time we managed 3/4 hour of moderate rain that was followed through the afternoon by warm, drying sunshine. So, our drought goes on unabated.

Still dry here in the west could use some rain for sure.

I have had a lazy day today. Very muggy and damp this morning but now, at almost bedtime, the air is fresh and comfortably cool. Sleep well Pat.

Wet weather conditions here in Sth Australia Pat. I gardened most of the day yesterday, and was pleased to see so many worms in the soil I've been building up for years. In hot conditions they disappear much deeper. I hope we are not in for a fierce Summer.
Trees and shrubs are starting to bud in preparation for Spring. - Pam.

Our August has turned out to be cooler (thank goodness) but with lots of gray skies and rainy weather. (All the rain we really needed earlier in the summer!)

It sounds like you are looking forward to September. Why not? It's a pleasant gentle month...at least here it is.

Loved your necklace of raindrops...great image. Have a good Friday, as it's Thurs. night here, and you're 5 hours ahead of me!

What a wonderful day you have had, including rain overnight for your garden.

Sounds good for the gardens, fields and woods in Yorkshire!
Here, there are thunderstorms forecast for this afternoon. If they do come, I really hope they bring some rain.

The rain here freshened things up nicely, but it's too late for a lot of grass.

More showers here, but that is helping the garden.
Too many people are pushed towards University..there are other paths..one size does not fit all!!

Having read Dereks comments I have to agree that parts of of east anglia still have not really had rain. Here in S E Essex we had 1mm and in Ipswich my daughter had none at all and dried her washing on the line. So I am still praying for rain after 14 weeks without any.
