Autumnal

Say what you will, there is a nip in the air and it will not go away.   We might get the odd warm spell - we often get one or two lovely days even as late as October, but those really unbearably hot days won't be back (I may live to eat my words).

My gardeners have just rung the door bell to say they really will be here shortly to do a really good 'going-over' of my lawns and gardens - they have not been for three weeks.   The front lawn is fine but the one up the side of the bungalow which is in the shade for a large part of the day -wow -the grass is a good six inches high.

My friends T and S called yesterday with a large tub of blackberries they had picked.   Then this morning they called with two large green cooking apples.   I have cooked them in the microwave and they smell delicious.   I shall have a large bowl of them with some ice cream for my lunch tomorrow - another smell and taste of Autumn.

I seem to have had a very hectic day today so I shall now go and have a nice quiet evening.   Nothing much  to suit my viewing on the TV this evening so I shall have a quiet hour or so doing a Sudoku if I can get my brain in gear.  See you tomorrow.

I am keeping an eye on the blackberries growing near my flat. They are not quite ripe enough yet but I do hope to get a fairly decent picking soon.
It felt decidedly autumnal at 3am yesterday, and I got up to add an extra layer to my bedding. I have been sleeping under an empty duvet cover for several days now but need a little more. Hope your gardeners do a good job for you, it will be so satisfying to seeing it all looking it's best once more.

No coolness here. It is finally raining quite steadily which is wonderful. The humidity is high so it still feels like Summer. Please send your Autumn weather to Massachusetts.

It is still a bit warm here but cooling of a little each day. Getting dark earlier and dawn is coming a little later each morning. I am ready for Fall as it is one of my favorite seasons.
Glad you had a nice day and I hope you sleep well!

We have had steady on and off rain for several days.

We're still sleeping on top of the duvet. The mornings are a tad autumnal, but we're still expecting 33 C this afternoon. We'll probably have our final swim of the season today; although we're hoping to swim in the sea at Brighton when we get back.

We‘re still having highs around 30C and more this week and no rain forecast, but nights and mornings are cool enough to allow for better sleep and getting the house aired nicely before it is time to draw the blinds against the heat.
Your friends are so good to bring you apples and brambles!

I echo Rachel in that there is no nip in the air and we're still in summer here.
I wished my lawns were fine and needed attention from gardeners, they're as dead and brown as can be and haven't grown a millimeter in several weeks, but then again you have been getting regular rain.

Well we have similar weather here to your weather Pat. Definitely feels like Autumn is beginning to take effect, cool in the morning and evening.

Lucky you having a " nip in the air". Still very warm here in the south. I think that you have had much more rain over the last month or so than we have ( ie practically none). Our grass is like straw and hasn't grown for weeks!

Here it seems like Autumn because all the leaves are falling off the trees already.

No signs of autumn here yet and the days are getting a bit warmer. Today is forecast to be 30*C but Wednesday will be 35*C unless the forecast changes.
I love cooked apples in autumn and winter! Enjoy your gift apples from your friends. Yum!

Hugs!
