Relax

Well I am here almost in a state of relaxation - I certainly will be by the time the final day of Le Tour begins in an hour or so.   I have cleaned out my business drawer and filed everything in a clean, new file.   You may think it extravagant, but packs of 5 "Document Wallets" from Tesco have neatened my drawer up no end and I  feel ready to drop dead tonight knowing my affairs are all in order.   It does make me conscious however of how much less able my brain is to cope with things I took in my stride last year and the year before that.   How much of that is lack of use and how much deterioration of brain cells is hard to tell of course because it is so easy to keep putting things off.   So no more negative thoughts - too much negativity in the world at present - so I am determind to be cheerful.

For the last few days I have found it chilly (it has been breezy and dull here and we have had some good showers. )   Today as the morning has progressed the sun has got more and more in charge.

I am now going off to watch the final stage ofLe Tour de France.   The stamina and the wonderful sportsmanship of the competitors has been a joy to watch.   Hopefully I will be back later - see you then.

Try puzzle books…instead of television…they work…

How is your garden after the showers?
I am reading a well written and fascinating book by the name of Keep Sharp by Sanjay Gupta, M.D. I think that you would enjoy it. Among many other important facts is that we can and do continue to make new brain cells until we pop our clogs(as you say).

I thought that I had done well by reorganising my admin paperwork when we moved last year but it is slowly getting back into a muddle again.!
You have inspired me to tackle it ... when the winter comes

You are a lot more organised than me, Weave.

Well done! We all know from our own experience or by what others have told us how difficult it can be having to sort out someone‘s estate when they have not kept up with their own admin work.
Much warmer here in Ripon today, too; really pleasant until mid-afternoon when it started to rain and has been doing so on and off ever since.

Derek - I am a great Christopher Lloyd fan - I love his style of gardening and have several of his books
Maudie - that's a relief - I sometimes think mine have gone to rest.
Brenda - I do all the mind games in The Times each weekday morning - they take me a couple of hours and then I read all the posts from my blog friends and answer them. Then I put on my post for the day. I think that just about leaves me time for a walk or a dead head of my tubs or a cup of tea with a caller and that's it.

Thanks for your visit everyone.

Ah rain, how lucky the people of Yorkshire are to have rain.

I'd say your organization is stellar! I also like everything well ordered.

I am almost envious of your chilly days. After a very chilly June I was longing for warmth. They say you should be careful what you long for - very true. July down here has been unbearably hot and humid on a number of days and those conditions render me completely useless. It has been more comfortable today and I actually managed a bit of ironing. I too tidied up various cupboards and drawers during the hottest days allowing me to use little energy yet achieve something worthwhile at the same time.

I am glad your weather has broken
It is still hot here, in the 90s.

I'm in the same situation... my brain cells just don't work as well as they did but then, neither does any other part of my body. Guess it's time to slow down and enjoy these last years..But, I am far from being ready to throw in the towel, so to speak.

Having the files in order is as good as a still drink.

You are amazing

Like you, I love things being organized. Not long ago I also pulled out the file containing information on my husband's and my financial matters. I also read over our wills which were written when the boys were little. I quickly realized everything was outdated. My boys, for example, no longer need to go live with their Aunt and Uncle should my husband and I suddenly meet our maker. Instead they could carry on living in our house. Then my mind went to all the things that might fall apart for them should they have to run the show on their own. It was enough to make me shove it all back in the file and decide to think on it another day.

I've mostly missed le tour this year. I used to watch it with my late husband who was a biking fanatic. I watched soccer/football with him too, because he loved it so darned much.

It DOES feel good to get all that paperwork in order! I do it every so often and feel good that my only child will not have to suffer from a mountain of paperwork if I die suddenly. She hates it when I say things like this, but it's true. Especially as my brain gets older, like you, it is more difficult to do tasks like this.

Thanks everyone. Not much happened - went to bed early so there was nothing to add.
