Disaster

I really do hope that nobody has been seriously injured but when my Times had not arrived by nine this morning I rang the Newsagents only to discover that owing to an accident on the M62 the papers are held up.   It is now after one o'clock and still no sign of them which makes me think it must be a very bad accident - hope things are alright.   Compared with a bad road accident my missing my morning paper is mere chicken feed.   Lives and bad injuries are far more serious.   So I am now going to resort to a Wordle or two to satisfy my need to brain exercise before my evening stagnation sets in.

So far it has been a wet morning with a very grey sky.   It has just stopped raining and the patio has dried up so I may have to go out and water my tubs soon.   I found out when watering my tubs last that in spite of heavy rain my tubs were very dry and one particular grey leaved plant was beginning to die.   Hope I have caught it in time.   I'll be back soon with something to say I hope (even if it is only to give you my wordle score.)

Hardly had I started when my Times popped through the letter box and soon after I started  reading it then friend M rang to say she would come over for a chat.    When you live alone there is nothing better than a friend popping over for a chat.   And together we had a lovely afternoon chatting about this and that.

I had intended to watch the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games but sad to say I switched off after half an hour as I just wasn't in the mood and was not enjoying it at all.    Now, at just after nine o'clock I feel more than ready for bed, so wash up the tea things and put them away and then off to bed for me.

Until tomorrow:

There have been some awful accidents on the M62 over the years. A route to be treated with respect.

The Times made it through then.

Glad your paper showed up and hope there were no injuries, or worse, on that highway!
We are just getting some afternoon rain right now - the garden will sing, as will I. It was 96F and unbearable outside - temp. has definitely dropped now.
Hugs Pat.

In spite of days of almost total cloud cover, some looking quite threatening, no rain apart from the odd drop or two. It seems to bypass us completely. It is cooler, thank goodness, but still very 'heavy' which I find exhausting. It is certainly turning into and odd year weatherwise.
Hope everyone is safe after that accident on the M62, and glad your paper turned up.

Your garden is getting a bit of rain and that's a very good thing. We also got rain for about 15 minutes and then sun came back out and the humidity rose again. It has been in the 80'all day with the humidity making it feel hotter. You are fortunate to have neighbors that enjoy visiting and chatting. That is very nice for both of you.

We may have some 'light rain' today, but I'm not holding my breath. Watering doesn't take me more than about 10 mins, and frankly I like not having to mow the grass; it has all dried to an unpleasant beige colour.

It did not rain in Ripon yesterday, in spite of there being a solid grey lid of clouds in the sky, but it is certainly making up for it today! I wanted to wear a dress and nice shoes today (it isnour last day here before traveling home tomorrow), but shall go back to jeans and trainers instead.

Still no rain in Suffolk.
I'm glad you got your paper in the end

Hope you got your Wordle! It is trying to out guess them which is the fun of the game. Accidents on the motorways are always horrible as you have to crawl past them but more terrible for the people involved. We have had rain overnight for several days now and it is quite cold.

I see that Yorkshire appears to be getting plenty of rain.
Down here the weatherman seems to be getting a perverse pleasure from telling us each night that no rain is likely for weeks.

Same here Thelma.

It is wet and chilly here today. Thanks for calling.

No more watering plants for you then Pat. Cloudless and 28 degrees here, as normal.

I am sorry to hear about the accident. Sending prayers for those involved. We have had an incredible amount of rain this month. Over 2" last night after a week of rain, and now it is raining again. The flooding in the southern part of our state and in Eastern Kentucky is truly terrible. We are up high so no flooding, but I do wonder about those in the bottomless by creeks and rivers. The gardens are soggy, but holding up so far.
