Goodmorning bloggers all!   We are having one of our rather rare spells of warm weather - two days so far up here in the North of England and promised to cool down by the week-end.   But every spell is a bonus.  My carer has just gone leaving everywhere spick and span.   She has even watered my new Joie de Vivre for me.   My gardener gave it a good watering for me when he put it in at the  week  -end but he promised to call mid week and top it up - with a bit of luck she might get two tops up.  I find it very frustrating not being able to get up four steps into the garden.  I will be back later on my return from the hairdressers.

It is now scorching hot.   My gardener and his assistant have called to water my rose again and whilst they are here they have also watered all my tubs  - an enormous help as I am totally unable to do it alone being too unstable on my feet.

Ladies amongst you - isn't it a nice feeling going to the Hairdressers?   My taxi calls and takes me into town - less than a mile - and when I am ready to come home I ring him and he collects me.    As it is now too hot to do anything, a shall take The Canterbury Tales into the garden shade and read it.   It is a really good read and not at all difficult to read in its 'modern' translation.  M in our Book Group always chooses good books which seem to suit us all.

They seem to have found an Anglo Saxon burial site on the route of the HS2.   I only caught the end of the news just as they were speaking of the artefacts which seem to suggest people were more sopisticated than was thought.   Manicure sets - toothpics, nail cutters and the like.   I expect it will all the in The Times  tomorrow,

Enough for today dear friends- see you tomorrow,

I've just ordered "Wild Mary" the biography of Mary Wesley, to add to my large collection of biographies and autobiographies. Looks to be a good read.
Lovely hot and sunny day here on Sheppey. Was on the reserve at 05.45 this morning to enjoy the cool, clean air and then out on my bike along the seafront this afternoon to enjoy the sun and heat. Lots of people in swimming.

Here in Indiana in the USA we've been under a "heat warning" the last few days but now today it's going to be cooler...just in the upper 80's F. It's impossible to do anything outside when the temperature is hovering near 100*F. Stay cool, Weaver! ~Andrea xoxo

Keeping everything watered in the heat is very important and I'm glad your gardener is tending to the plants. It's cool and breezy in Massachusetts. Higher heat is predicted this weekend. Being styled and coiffed is great. You do have the perfect system for getting to your hairdresser.

I don't go to the hair dressers either. I have short hair and electric clippers that can buzz it shorter using attachments. It does feel so good when it is newly trimmed!
Glad you had a good day and that you have helpers to keep your home and garden in top shape! You have it set up to work so well for you.

I love my hairdresser - she’s become a good friend and does what I ask with my hair, not what she thinks I ought to have done. The salon is literally a minute’s walk from the house.

My hairdresser is also my neighbour and something of a friend; I've known her since she started her apprenticeship at the salon round the corner from me and now she owns and runs the place! A true success story, especially considering that she emigrated from Syria with her parents when she was a toddler, and comes from a large and rather poor family.

A very warm day here today, but with a pleasant breeze. Really hot days are forecast for the weekend with temperatures in my area reaching maybe 35 Celsius on Saturday and Sunday.

I love going to the hair dresser but I'm finding the salon I have been going to the past 5 years is charging increasingly high prices. They were always on the high side but recently, they bumped up their prices even more. The last time I walked out of there with my freshly cut, coloured and highlighted hair, I was a little stunned by my bill. I made the decision then and there to find a less highfalutin place with more reasonable prices. I spend a lot of time in the garden wearing my Tilly hat. I don't have the need for expensive hair these days.

My hairdresser provides a wonderful deep conditioning treatment and a soothing head massage. I'd love to go more often. There are three salons close by - one is much too expensive, one is too cheap(, a quick in and out hairdressing chain ) - the third is just right and a very relaxing place to be. The expensive one made my eyes pop ! - Pam

I find myself less able to water the plants, too, and wonder what I will do about it. It's only June.

Warm weather helps to make things pleasant.

I hope you are able to stay cool and comfortable as you enjoy The Canterbury Tales. Here in the middle of the country we are in a heatwave with temps in the upper 90s F and even hotter weather expected next week. It's all part of summer. I'll have to see what I can find out about that Anglo-Saxon burial site that was found. I love archeology. Take care Pat!

It's a terrible thing when your Joie de Vivre starts to wilt! I was awake at 4 this morning so opened up all the windows, even so it only cooled down to 20C degrees. It's going to be a hot one; take care and stay cool.

My Joie de Vive still going strong John!

Red - There is a happy medium though - I'm sure you will agree.
Fun - I agree. You can almost see them! Brenda. Thanks for dropping by.

It's ironic that one of the main benefits of the HS2 destruction is the discovery of our past.
No more hot weather here, we ar four degrees colder, windblown and very wet.
We could do without so much wind, but the garden welcomes the rain.
Although our neighbour's employer wishes that he could have had another day or so, with 50 acres still to cut for silage.
