A Hiccup!)

I got up this morning to a wet morning and it does look as though it has been a really wet night - and my garden looks better for it.   My grand daughter e mailed me to say they are no longer vegan and have gone back to being vegetarian so I went back to my Tesco Friday order and removed anything vegan and added a few vegetarian things - much easier for me because apart from the lunches my carer provides I am more or less vegetarian anyway.I had a spam e mail which needed deleting and I needed to inform my tax adviser.   I couldn't remember her address so went into the sitting room for my address book.   On the way back I caught my foot on the leg of the computer stool and went down 'like a ton of bricks' as they say!

My specs flew off, my hearing aid flew out and I banged my forehead with a crack on the computer shelf.   Luckily the bed broke my fall so it could have been much worse as I fell on my 'good' hip (the one I didn't break a year ago ).   I pressed my safety button but as my hearing aid had flown out I had difficulty hearing the instructions.   My son was gardening which is why he had not heard the call to come round.

Eventually, to cut a long story short, he heard and came round.   I had lunch, sat in the chair, put a rug over me and went to sleep.  I have slept all afternoon and woken up with a large 'egg' on my forehead which will most likely become a black eye tomorrow and a splitting headache but otherwise unscathed.

My tax advisor confirmed that I needed to delete the e mail from  the tax office as it is a scam going round at the moment.  So here I am at half past six in the evening having done very little today.   But at least it is the final of The Sewing Bee this evening and I look forward to that and hopefully I am no worse for wear after my fall.  The sky is black and it looks like another downpour but the garden really needed it especially after the gardeners had been.

Other than that it has been a largely uneventful day - but 'sufficient unto the day' as they say.

Oh, Ouch! So sorry you fell but am glad the bed saved you from worse injury. Wish you'd put an ice pack on your forehead when you fell as you'd likely not have a goose egg there. Of course, you always, always protect your skin from ice by having the ice bag in a washcloth bag. Ice can burn skin as surely as heat can. If your headache persists, you may need to see your doctor. You may well feel as if you'd been beaten up for a couple of days, too, and that's no fun.
Am glad rain revived your garden!

Hugs!

Oh no, I think it was a bit more than a hiccup. what a fright for you. Glad you're ok now and cosy in your chair. Rest is a balm we often forget can heal, take care.

Not the best day then! I do hope you are not too battered and bruised.

Oh my, a pretty rough uneventful day I’d say! You’ll feel a little worse for the wear tomorrow but surely hope you’ll mend quickly. Take it slow and easy for a few days, enjoy the good the rain did for your garden and look forward to your vegetarian visit. Treat yourself gently❣️

Thank goodness you fell at home and are not seriously injured. Any sort of fall really shakes one up so take it easy for a couple of days. Hope the specs are unscathed and the black eye doesn't develop. I daresay you might have some extra aches and pains tomorrow.

I have had to deal with the odd scam or two with my elderly mother. They are so unfair on those of a generation who are more trusting and easily rattled. It makes me even more cross to hear that the end result of yours was you falling over trying to put things right.
Please rest up Pat - bruising takes a while to come out .-Here's to mending quickly with good care. x -Pam.

I'm with Pam. The whole 'scam' business bothers me a lot. It sounds as if you realized it was a scam right away, so I'm glad for that. I'm very sorry for your fall though. Alls well that ends well, I guess, but it gives me a shiver to think how much worse it could have been. Take care.

Oh my goodness, what a day! At least you did not break any bones but you did take quite a tumble. The bumps and bruises will definitely be sore for a few days. Ice will be helpful. I like a bag of frozen peas (wrapped in a tea towel) for bruises; it also helps with the headache. Your garden must be nicely refreshed with all the rain. Scams are plentiful these days and all must be very cautious.

You are very fortunate to come out of that one with little damage. I have fallen on my forehead twice. It's not good. Get well soon.

Have you seen those inflatable Sumo suits? At least you'd bounce if you fell, even though they do look ridiculous. I think I need one too!

That must have been quite scary, and with the added difficulty of you not hearing the instructions properly. No more such "uneventful" days, please! Hopefully, the bruising heals quickly.
Forgive me, Pat, but I had to smile at you calling yourself "more or less a vegetarian" - whenever you tell us what your carer has brought, it is something with meat, and I have often wondered at that.

A litany of bad adventures but all is well now. Rest and recuperate. Meike (hope that is right Librarian) raises an interesting question. Fo those of us vegetarians accused of eating animal related products. Most animals and humans are omnivores I think would be the answer but it would be interesting to have a discussion over the subject. Or not ;)

I'm sorry to hear about your fall. I'm sure it was frightening. Hopefully you won't be too sore tomorrow.
It seems like there are more and more scam emails and phone calls. It is difficult to trust messages you receive any longer! I hope you feel better soon Pat!

Sewing Bee winner - absolutel y- all four entries were good but the winner was in a class on its own.
As regards vegetarianism - my son has been vegetarian since he was 14 and he is now 64. I was veggie between marriages but both husbands were mostly meat eaters. Now I live alone I went back to being veggie until I fell and then my carer took over my lunches and they are not veggie but don't eat that much meat. I have tons of veg from her every day and just a small helping of whatever meat she and her husband (and her mother in law)are eating - fish twice a week plus salmon and tuna for tea each week so a mixture.
My tax scam was not in with my e mails so did give me a clue - then sending it on to my accountant confiirmed it.
Thanks for all your commiserations.

I read your post about your upcoming visit from your great grands, then came back to read this one, as you had mentioned falling. Oh dear, thank goodness the bed was there to soften the fall. I am sure the little ones won't mind your black eye, have a fun visit with them.
