weather

Well it has not been a very nice day here today.  It has rained in the wind all day and not been very warm.  My carer kindly put my plants out for me this morning, after lunch I gently watered them with the hose which is quite close to where they are sitting in the day time so now they have had a good drink.   I am much happier about them.

My new cleaner came as promised at eleven o'clock and she is lovely.   I am so lucky.   And added to  that Ifind she is the sister of my 'reserve' gardener - the man who did the major operation on my patio eighteen months ago .  Luckily she was not short of time because we chatted for three quarters of an hour before she started.   (and yes I did  payher for the time).    She is a keen gardener too and  - as any gardener will tell you - when two gardeners get together they can always find something to talk about.

Well, as that was the high light of my day there isn't a lot more to say except tonight is The Sewing Bee - my 'in' programme at the moment - a programme which is made up of brilliant sewers who just serve to underline what rubbish I am at sewing!  See you tomorrow.

How marvelous to have a new and personable cleaner who is also an avid gardener! She is another person in your circle of family, friends, and helpers that you will look forward to seeing. Sweet!

We have a sunny day with a bit of breeze and a high expected to be 20*C. I wish we had a gardener as with my fatigue issues and DH's heart arrhythmia, we lack the energy to do much more that mow it ourselves - well, DB mows, not me. We also have 4 acres so that's a lot to care for.

Hugs!

No watering required here, after the steady rain we had this afternoon. Glad you've been lucky with your new cleaner; there aren't so many of them around.

It has been beastly hot here and so I took my walk indoors today at an air conditioned fitness center. No flowers and birds to see but at least I stayed cool! :)

So pleased you like your new cleaner. You must have had a lovely chat with her if she is a keen gardener too.
Very wet here this morning but I waited for it to calm down before getting the recycling and my weekly shopping done. Of course by lunch time the sun was shining. Not exactly warm but but by wearing a warm cardigan I haven't needed the heating on.

Raining here almost all day - but I did get your parcel to the postbox!

We've had a sunny day in Ontario. I spent a few hours this morning putting my young plants in the ground that I started from seed in March. I'm being a bit daring because here in Ontario, many gardeners wait until the Victoria Day holiday. My impatience got the best of me. Your new cleaner sounds like a lovely person. How lucky to have your house cleaned by someone who shares similar interests and enjoys a good chat.

Angela - Thank you for letting me know. It is so kind of you.

We are still experiencing Autumn here, some days sunny, some days cold - though in Queensland parts of the country still give cause for concern if there is too much rain, due to recent flooding. Happy to hear your cleaner is a gardener, and sounds like you will enjoy each others company and catchups.-Pam, Aust.

Watering potted plants is so important to keep them happily growing well. I water several pots on my front entry and back patio. Gardeners are a good group of people and generally have lots to share about their gardens and growing experiences. Your new house cleaner sounds like an excellent gardener. It is nice that you share a common interest. Sewing is not my skill either. Sadly, I did not get my grandmother's sewing genes. She could make dresses, knit beautiful sweaters, mittens, hats and socks as well as crochet blankets.

It was very windy over on this side of the country as well. My washing dried on the line but it very nearly blew over my small apple tree. X

What happened to the first cleaner? She didn't stay long.

Sitting around talking about gardening sounds very relaxing to me.

BBC have found another way to waste food today, they have a programme featuring people making puddings for the Platinum celebrations.
A programme about how over-whelmed food banks around the country now are, as people struggle to buy food, or go with out it, might be more realistic.

Rachel - she found a full-time job. I only have a cleaner once a month - I do a lot of the cleaning myself - windowsills, dusting, some polishing where necessary, kitchen units - that sort of thing. But there are some jobs (hoovering, wiping over the laminate floor in the kitchen and the vinyl in the bathroom and the shower are examples( I cannot stand unaided - need both hands to hold on to one or other of my walkers). My carer washes all the kitchen units every morning.

Thank you all - it is nice to have a few replies when I go to bed and then a few more when I switchon in the morning.
