Tuesday afternoon and all's well (so far)

I tested myself this morning and so far have tested negative - so far so good.    I am still caring for myself but not finding it easy.   I was hoping that as the days went by each day Iwould find it easier.   So far this has not happened.   Today I did not manage to get dressed until after lunch.   Does it matter?   I suppose not but I am finding it disappointing.  I am staying in bed an extra couple of hours in the morning - getting up around nine but even that is not helping and I am ready for bed each night.

I do hope things improve.   I have just had a text from my carer to say she is feeling much better today so I am pleased about that.

It has been wet more or less all day today and the  Isky is very black.   Yes, we do need the rain but I do hope the weather improves before the week end. I have nothing special to write about today so see you all tomorrow.

A friend of mine, 9 years younger than you are, started sleeping in her wrinkle-free clothes so she was already dressed when she got out of bed. She'd change into fresh clothes later, but was fine if someone came to call early!

It's good to hear that you're still testing negative and that your carer is feeling better.

Hugs!

I love this solution! Very creative.

You are doing fine and you shouldn't be disappointed. It's a mini-vacation where you get to relax and rest and do whatever pleases you whenever you want. Glad your carer is recovering and you are still testing negative!

Given your love of clothes, I expect that you still look well turned-out even in your dressing gown!

If you treat it as a holiday, you can console yourself that you are not stranded at an airport with nowhere to go, as thousands are right now.

Keeping my fingers crossed that you don't go down with the dreaded Covid.
Just keep getting up whatever time it is.

I'm happy to hear you have tested negative and I hope that result continues! Don't push yourself, just do what you feel up to doing. What matters is that you take care of yourself. The house can wait. I'm keeping you in my thoughts.

So far so good...just keep ticking over.
I like Tom's idea of treating it as a holiday!!

I would be enjoying the lie-ins in the morning and making the most of it.

A relief to hear that you are testing negative! I had a positive test this AM and must say I am feeling achey and fatigued, so I can't recommend it. I think the key is to make sure you are getting good lunches and dinners!

I can be a bit slow about getting dressed for the day. I consider it one of the joys of retirement and have no shame at all about it. Focus on doing the things that are essential and enjoyable like eating and chatting on the phone. Don't worry about the rest. This Covid scare will be over in a blink of an eye.

I guess Pat, there are a lot of tired working people that would love our lifestyle,(without the aches and pains of course) . Your time is your own and it seems that any niggles can be managed with rest. I always like that you look forward to something, a t.v. program, visitors, and the occasional outing etc - always a good salve for disappointment, even if it does take longer to dress for it!

...forgot to add, that now that there has been a change in government with a big protest vote here in Australia, it is easier to get up and face the day for a lot of the population . Keep well Pat-Pam.

The comments make fascinating reading thank you!

I would just have a loose fitting sundress to throw on first thing in the morning. Keep a sweater handy if it is a chilly day. You are at least dressed. You can get around to the ablutions on your own schedule.

The negative Covid test result is very good news. I'd have a nice glass of wine with my meal and say, "Cherio to Covid!" A bit of a sleep in sounds good to me. I love morning coffee in bed with a good book. When you dress, add a piece of jewelry...you'll feel all the better.

It's one step at a time to improve.

Pat you set yourself such high standards which is admirable, maybe relax a little if your expectations are not being met at present. I’ve become quite feral in the Italian heat, very few clothes, hair doesn’t get washed much, dirty feet all day long and everything is covered is dust from the work on the terrace, who cares we are getting few visitors and they can sit in the garden. Of course we are now desperate for rain, the forecast weekend storms produced maybe 11 drops and now nothing due until a week on Friday which probably won’t happen either. Keep well, sending sunshine.

It's good that your tests are negative. Try not to worry and hopefully 'normal service' will resume shortly. Xx

Sleeping in is one of my favourite bits about weekends and time off!
As for taking more time to get things done on your own, that's only natural, isn't it - you don't have (usually) a carer just for fun. I can understand how you are a little disappointed with things not getting easier, and am sure your carer(s) will soon be back.

Think the weather is going to get better as well this week. Enjoy your bed and your carer will be back soon. What do you do for cups of tea, I would be lost without my tea, you need someone to set up a little tray of tea things, with the electric kettle of course in your bedroom.

Thank you everyone you keep me going. I was hoping the extra movement would loosen me up a bit but so far it hasn't happened. I have a log of aches in places I had forgotten I had.
