First things first

Has anyone out there ever tried a Circulation Booster to help with  foot and leg swelling (like Revitive)?   I am contemplating buying one but would like an opionion from someone who actually uses it.   So if you do then could you please drop me a reply on here?

                                ***********

Now to yet another day's post - how quickly they fly by.   And how quickly Prime Minister's Question Time comes round each week - and with it the question as to whether Boris has survived another week or not.   Frankly, as more and more revelations come to light (if they are all true and not the work of someone Hell Bent on bringing him down) I just wish it was all over and we had another person (male or female) in charge who I could trust to be in charge.   As things are I just feel I am poised on the edge of a hearthrug waiting for someone to pull it from under my feet at any second.   And, frankly, I don't want to think about what the history books will make of it all in fifty years time.

                            * * * * * * * * *

On a slightly lighter note - my carer has just gone - once a month she goes through my bungalow for me 'like a dose of salts' (even this morning the inside windows cleaned).   The whole place looks sparkling as it always does when she has been, and a load of washing is already in the tumble drier.   Outside there is a January wind blowing and it is cloudy - not a day to venture out unless it improves after lunch (pork steak with honey and mustard sauce, cauli, sprouts and carrots - and mashed potato).   I may have to find something to read instead.

I have already read February's Book Group choice and spoken of it on here.   It is  'The Song of Achilles' by Madelaine Miller - a very good book - I enjoyed it hugely not least because of its portrayal of love -pure love - in no way related to sexual love entirely.

March's choice is Jan Morris's 'In My Mind's Eye' another very enjoyable book.   I love her books - I think this is probably her last. **  She calls it 'A Thought Diary' and it is 188 entries - one a day each one a sort of very upmarket blog -each one food for thought.   I have loved it. **  She died in November '20 aged 94.   I would say a nice book to request (if anybody asks) because it is one for dipping in to.

Until tomorrow dear friends...

Re. your first paragraph please bear in mind it may involve reading instructions in order to get started.

Yes, I've used one of these circulation booster machines. They take a bit of getting used to, you would need to start on a low setting and work up. They do come with a lengthy set of instructions and warnings. Could be very useful for you, but probably best to to check with your GP first - a phone call appointment?
Best wishes
Alison

I enjoyed that Jan Morris books and a couple of others but haven't read any of her travel books. I have her new one published after her death on order from the library

Consult your physician is good advice for any big health changes you might consider.
I just finished "Keeper of Lost Things" by Ruth Hogan and that was a very enjoyable book.
Glad you are sounding perkier this morning!

How many times have you said that you are not following politics anymore?

Pat, my niece bought my 88 yr. old mom two leg circulation boosters for Christmas, and so far they DO seem to be helping a lot. Mom is able to walk much better after using them and they've helped to alleviate her leg pain. Worth a try if your doctor agrees.

As a side note, I've been surprised (here in the U.S.) that bloggers in the U.K. haven't mentioned at all Boris' dropping of all C19 mandates and restrictions. It's certainly made news here and been a topic of conversations. --Elise

My reaction too Derek. The question posed re. history is answered thus: it will be a footnote.

I have read a couple of Jan Morris's book, 'The Matter of Wales' I really enjoyed and have 'Conundrum' in my Audible account and just added your title as well. Would not worry too much about the political row at the moment, your rug won't slip;)

I've always been of the opinion that ALL-ALL-ALL politicians are corrupt in some way, shape or form... and there are ALWAYS-ALWAYS-ALWAYS people out there who hate the current politician in charge and want to bring them down. Just go with the flow! :-) Whoever is in charge, let them lead... and whoever is next in charge, let them lead too. Just live your life there in your little abode and let the rest of the world go by.

It's mighty cold here in northern-most Indiana in the USA. It's currently -2*F (-18*C) here right now and not predicted to get much warmer. I've just fed my birds & squirrels and am inside for the rest of today. Tomorrow morning the cat has a vet check-up appointment at 9:30am. Fortunately she has a lot of "insulation" so won't feel a thing. *haha*

We had a friend who tried one, but it didn't do any good..ask your doctor/physio first?
Jan Morris was a lovely person... lived less than ten miles from our last place in North Wales.

I used a Revitive a few years ago to try to reduce the swelling caused by lymphoedema. It didn't work for that and I don't have any circulation problems, but that is not to say that it wont help someone else.
As for poor old Boris, I feel that he inherited a problem which he fixed for those of us who wanted it fixed and then on top of all the day to day stuff along came Covid. No-one on earth knew anything about it, he relied on advisers for the best plans for action and delivered them. The 'illegal' gatherings at No.10 probably took place in huge rooms big enough for the dozens of people work each day and had daily meetings sometimes in the garden. I don't doubt that Labour MPs gathered together too, and possibly had drinks and a birthday cake or two for their various birthdays.
Is he the only person in Parliament who makes mistakes? I can't imagine anyone would want to take his job if this is all the thanks he has for coping for the past 3 or 4 very difficult years. He would not have been my choice for Prime Minister but who else was there?

I enjoy your ask the prime minister time. It usually makes the news here.

I listened to Song of Achilles on SCRIBD audiobooks and loved it ... It is quite the gay-oriented story which surprised me ... I didn't expect that!
I would suggest compression knee-high hose to help with your leg/feet swelling ... It's what I have to wear them for, as well!

Frankly, if Starmer only has that to ask questions about, week after week, at PMQ's, then it shows that he is totally out of touch with UK and world affairs. There are more important things to discuss than garden parties and cake.

Rachel's remark reg. instructions made me smile, too. And both she and Derek are right - you keep saying you don't want to follow politics, as it is too depressing. But you are an interested person with an active mind and so you can not stop yourself from wanting to know what's going on in the world, and your country in particular.

I am currently reading "The Importance of Being Interested", a work of non-fiction by Robert Ince. Very, very readable.

My father, who had bad circulation due to diabetes and was prone to swollen ankles found using one of the machines very helpful in keeping him mobile. It didn't do anything for the swelling however - it is very much a one-trick pony. Unfortunately after a few years he got to a point where he could barely feel it in his feet and gave up using it but I still have it and occasionally use it as I find it quite relaxing!

It is the leader of the opposition's job to be hell bent on bringing down any prime minister, and the current one is doing everything and anything to appeal to people by throwing them dangerous morsels of hope by suggesting that the pandemic is over and they can throw away their masks, etc. He would throw his granny under the bus to save his job, which is why he should leave it. He is not a true Conservative and never has been.

I'm missing Aniko...who comes every Tuesday to help me here at The Potters House...we had to cancel for 2 weeks due to covid...shes such a positive person...apart from cleaning..I miss her chat....xx

Best thing going for the Labour Party at the moment is Angela Rayner. She speaks her mind, calls a spade a spade and doesn't care who she upsets, my kind of politician.

I’ve just noticed that I can reply to your comments on my phone, but not on my home computer, Weave. Strange.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. After discussing the problem I have decided to stik with the compress ion stockings.
Sorry about mentioningpolitics - I try not to because I am ot really interested (honeestl y) but sometimes they creep in.

Have you considered a seated pedal exerciser? It’s made a huge improvement for me. So easy — whenever I sit down to read a book or talk on the phone, I pedal away. It’s not vigorous exercise like an exercise bike would be, but it definitely helps circulation while you sit in a comfortable chair!

Revititive didn't help my mother in law at all, in fact it hurt her.
