Big New!

At last   The big day has arrived.   I have been down to Ripon in a taxi and am now wearing my new hearing aids. The 'noise' when the technician adjusted them was so loud that at present they are working at eighty percent until I adjust to them.   I go back in a couple of weeks to have them adjusted up.   They are lovely - I hear better and for another there is absolutely no whistling.    Glorious.   See you tomorrow.

Glad you've got that problem sorted out. It reminds me of Old Bert who worked on the farm when I was a lad. We'd often find ourselves shouting to make him understand. Eventually someone would ask, "Have you got your hearing aids in, Bert?" "Oh ah, I got 'em in" "Well, are they turned on?" "Oh ah, but I got 'em turned down" "Well turn them up then!" "Not bloody likely, if I turns 'em up they're loud enough to deafen me!"

Pleased for you. My mother was very deaf and it spoilt her life.

I was intending to add a bit more to my post but it has taken me an age towork out how to turn my new hearing aids off!

I would have thought they show you how to turn them on and off at the shop - that‘s the basics!
Anyway, good to know they work well. My Dad has recieved his first ever pair of hearing aids a week ago and was back yesterday for adjusting. It is amazing what a difference they make - he partakes in conversation a lot more than before, and proves that he is still very much with it.

Marvelous! So glad these aids are working well and you figured out how to turn them off. Best is no whistling, of course.

Hugs!

Wonderful to hear your new hearing aids are working a charm. I am due to get a pair and read this week in Consumer Reports that Bose sells hearing aids for $850 a pair, I am going to check into that.

This is wonderful! I think there has been so much progress with the heaing aids, you only need a bit of patience to find the right ones. My husband is now on his third pair and is finally happy with them.

I can understand your joy! Only once have I had my ears 'flushed-out', and the difference was amazing. Not unlike your new hearing aid, I imagine.

I’m pleased for you. Being very hard of hearing really cuts me off from society. I have very good hearing aids but my deafness is so severe that they still only really help with a 2 person conversation, any more and I just don’t hear. Everyone thinks being deaf is hilarious, don’t know why, it’s a medical affliction like Cancer or diabetes and we don’t laugh at those. So I hope your new aids enhance your life, you sound very looked after with your various friends. Being old, deaf and living alone is no fun but a first world problem I guess. Sarah Browne.
