Well - anything which is not done now is not getting done. I have wound down. The last card has been delivered, the parcel from Hermes has gone (and it has left a nice, tidy kitchen). I had a short walk but it really has never got properly light today. It isn't cold but it is dark, dismal and slightly damp. There is nobody about but the dog-walkers and even they look a bit reluctant today. I walked just a little way down the road (from number 19 to number 37) to put a late card through a letter box - had a chat there and then walked back with a friend who had been shopping. That is the extent of my socialising today but after my two hectic days it is rather nice to be quiet.
I have had a personal letter and parcel from Santa and his helpers via my email and I intend to reply to it on here. It was such a delightful surprise. After replying I shall switch off, draw all blinds, lock all doors, make myself a jacket potato with lots of salt and butter (yes I know salt and butter are bad for me but it is Christmas), and get ready to watch Carols from Kings with a glass of sherry - and Christmas will have begun.

It’s so nice to get settled cosy, light the lamps, draw the curtains that sometimes I wonder why I wait until dusk and don’t do so around midday. Have a happy and peaceful Christmas, I just hope you aren’t in trouble with Santa for opening your parcels early, I won’t tell him.
Very grey, wet and dismal but not particularly cold here. Everywhere clean and tidy, blinds drawn, lights on and a lovely quiet evening planned. I am being catered for tomorrow so that will be lovely.
Have a Happy and peaceful Christmas, and I hope Santa brings you at least one really good book!

Weaver, this is what I tell myself soooooo often!! In fact, I said this to myself right before my adult children & their families arrived last Saturday, when we celebrated our family Christmas. So so true! By the time the event arrives, whatever it is, what's done is done & nothing more is going to get done!

Merry Christmas! I went to a deli and bought corned beef sandwiches and all sorts of yummy things to eat. I will be on my own so decided to treat myself. Then I will go watch the Downton Abbey movie on TV with my cousin.

My mother, 93 years old ,has to isolate this Christmas, so just before the sun rose this morning I drove to her house to put a big basket of gifts on her doorstep for a surprise from Santa when she wakes this Christmas Day morning.
Being summer, it was beautiful at that time of the morning, so fresh, quiet, and no traffic on the roads, Xmas lights twinkling everywhere.. Sending you much love, from Pam. xx

Well I have to agree with Rachel, why somebody of your age worries about eating healthily, weight and gawd knows what else, is beyond me. You have enough restrictions in your life, at least enjoy the things that you can do.

No Rachel and Derek - I can't eat what I like - Of course I have to be as careful as I can be. My mother died after a series of strokes each one more debilitatin than the previous oneI am like her in so many ways and I do want to do all I can to reduce my risk of a stroke. If i have one then so be it - so I don't want to walk headlong into it.
