This week-end

This is a red letter weekend for me and takes the same form more or less every year.   First of all there is always Hallowe'en - it does become slightly more important each year I think as customs spread over the Atlantic and it becomes a more acknowledged festival here.   Hallowe'en has of course always been my birthday but it is only the past few years when there have been any festivities.   It is also usually the week end when the clocks go back and the nights get darker.   Now, in very old age (I am 89 on Sunday) the whole event has become far less important to me.  Friends ring to wish me a Happy Birthday, my son and his wife are coming round for a take away Pizza (after Covid tests) and I chat to my Grandchildren who all live away from here.   Then it is November.   And a Countdown to Christmas.

We used to often have a Pizza delivery at the week end but since Covid we have only had one once, so that in itself makes it a Red Letter Day.  Let's hope there is an improvement in the weather - it has been a dodge the showers kind of day today.   But let's spare a thought for those in the West of the country who have had to cope with such a deluge of rain over the past few days.

It's the turn of us in the south to get a spell of heavy rain this weekend. We have a yellow Met. Office warning for rain. Then next week it turns a lot colder.
Enjoy your birthday.

Happy Birthday to you, a bit early, and I hope the pizza is delicious on the day!

DH's grandmother's birthday was on Halloween, too.

Hugs!

That was my comment above, but somehow the "robot" thing caused the identity thing to forget I'd put my name in with auto-complete.

Wishing you a fine day for your birthday. It is interesting that Halloween hadn't been 'invented' when we were young!

Happy Birthday for Sunday, Weave. Don't overdo it!!! Yes, we've had very heavy rain here in West Wales, but nothing like further north, but there's still more to come I understand.

Thank you for birthday wishes everyone - and do hope the really heavy rain stays away for everyone.

Wishing you all the best on your B-day! It is still cloudy and cool with rain for Saturday. Sunday is to clear in time for Halloween and trick-or-treating. The children on my street seem very psyched about their costumes and of course the treats.

Happy Birthday Pat. You are certainly living proof that attitude and determination can overcome obstacles , and that common sense gets more done ! You are an inspiration. I do hope I've your spunk and vitality when I'm 89.

We're stuck at home until my husband's Covid test comes back - he's just got a cold but the local GP insisted, and now the results have been very slow coming through. There are lots f cases in Auckland, which has been in lockdown for a couple of months, but not getting on top of their outbreak (I suspect there's a sizeable group not obeying the strictures, and the area where it started has very overcrowded houses). Enjoy time with you family, and the pizza!

Enjoy your Halloween birthday. My youngest son is home from College this week on a break and it just so happens he has a birthday on Halloween as well. He turns 18 so it's a "big" one. I'm stealing your idea and we're having pizza for dinner. Later he's having a bit of a Halloween party at a friend's place so I'm sure he'll appreciate leftovers when he returns in the wee hours.

I'm glad lock down isn't in effect and you can enjoy your company.

Thanks for writing your blog. I always enjoy reading it. Your down to earth comments and your interesting tales of life in an English village make great reading.

Hope you have a great day.
