Sunday

A cool Sunday with plenty of sharp, chilly showers.   I did manage a walk with Priscilla dodging the showers and I think it did us both good.

I have a busy week coming up and I like that - it is always good to have plenty to do.   Tomorrow morning it is Book Group here.   Lots of absentees for various reasons - holidays, moving house, for a start.  Tuesday I am having my Gas Boiler serviced so have to stay in for the Engineer. Thursday I am having my third Covid vaccination (a couple of weeks before my winter flu jab, which has been postponed) and Friday I am going to see about new hearing aids.

My antibiotics seem to be working on my infection - I have only two left to take so  I hope they are.   I am certainly feeling less confused than I was(apparently urinary infections are known for causing confusion).   If you don't already know it I can assure you that getting old is no picnic - but at least it happens to us all finally.

My gardener rang me to tell me he is ill and can't work for the forseeable future.   I am sorry  - he is going through a worrying time .  My son kindly dashed round, emptied the tubs by my front door, refilled them with compost and has planted them up with plug=plant violas which arrived.   That gives them a chance to put on a bit of growth in the next few weeks if the weather is kind.   D, my gardener, now needs to really take care of himself and concentrate on keeping warm and getting well.

I shall now go and look at Strictly Come Dancing to see who are the first contestants to go out.   I always feel sorry for the first pair don't you?

As has been said many times, growing old may be no picnic but just look at the alternative.
I hope your lovely gardener gets well soon. He sounds like a nice chap.

Sorry to hear that your gardener is not well. Had my flu jab yesterday; we were lined up rather like sheep about to be dipped and whisked through in no time.

You do have a busy week coming up. Rest and relax when you can and don't overdo. I'm sorry your gardener is sick. I hope it's not too serious. It was nice of your son to help out with the violas. Enjoy Strictly Come Dancing tonight!

Glad to hear you managed your walk today, you probably wouldn't have managed it if the antibiotics weren't working.
It was lovely between the showers here; I managed a sunny, dry walk, too.
Kind of your son to rescue the violas; they will cheer you up all winter!

My flu jab is booked and I am waiting to hear when my Covid booster will be. Lovely sunshine this morning but it soon turned into a repeat of yesterday - lots of heavy showers.
Hope your gardener will make a good recovery. Thank goodness for wonderful sons who come to our rescue when needed.
Watch Strictly tonight - it must be agonising waiting to hear which couples will be in the dance-off.

We haven't started on third vaccinations here yet and, in fact, have donated extra shots to countries that have yet to receive sufficient shots for the majority of their citizens. It will be a long time until the whole world is protected!

Glad to hear you are recovering too! Hope you can continue to get out for your walks each day as you do enjoy them so!

UTIs lead to some very frightening symptoms in the elderly. I am glad you are doing better. Drink more fluids!!!

Include cranberry juice with your fluids - from experience I find it helps, also for prevention.-Pam

I wish your gardener well. You need him. Glad you're recovering. UTI's...we all get them, I think, and then must get over them.

Yes, yes, yes.... urinary tract infections can cause great mental confusion, especially with folks our age. Be sure to drink lots of water and take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in some water both in the morning and at night before bed. It will keep your bladder nice & clean, thus avoiding bacteria. ~Andrea xoxoxo

Bicarb of soda also helps so I am told but the antibiotics should do the trick. Weather is in its funny Autumn stage, wild and windy one moment, sun the next, so take care.

Don't you sometimes wonder how you fitted everything in while you still worked? You are certainly a busy lady, and you are right - having things to do is generally good for us, unless it gets so much that we start to feel stressed out.
I didn't know you had an infection, must have missed a few posts of yours while I was away online only for brief moments (hiking in the mountains does not lend itself to much computer time). Hopefully, your antibiotics help, and your gardener gets well soon, too.

I don't think any of us knew Librarian. It was kind of slipped in there like we did!
