Saturday again

How quickly Saturdays come round.   Always a bit of a non-day but it least it has been fine.   Not the lovely blue sky, sunny, warm day of yesterday but although I didn't particularly feel like walking I made myself do so and I feel better for it.   Sitting about is just not good for me, I know that.   And I suppose that goes for most of us.

My old school friend rang this afternoon and we had a nice old chat.   Talking on the phone is not easy - hopefully when I get my new hearing aids it will be better but we are both the same age - in fact she will be 90 shortly after I am 89 (Hallowe'en).   These days it is difficult not to compare ailments and ability to walk (neither of us can walk unaided but I manage quite a long walk daily (rain and str.ong wind days excepted) and she can't manage a Priscilla so can only walk a short distance.  But neither of us complain - we have both had happy marriages (2 in my case) and feel we have been very lucky.

I have two busy weeks in front of me now - appointments with the chiropodist, the phlebotomist, The Medical Centre for my Flu Jab, a visit from my God daughter, a visit to The Hearing Clinic to have the moulds made for my new hearing aids.   It is good to be busy but a happy medium is the best.   Slotted in here is a Tesco order which means I like to clean out the fridge and the cupboards prior to its arrival and the planning and cooking of the meal for my God daughter and her husband.   I look forward to doing this but just hope it turns out alright as I so rarely cook these days.

I feel greatly saddened by the death in such dreadful circumstances of  Sir David Amess yesterday.  He was so obviously a man much loved by his family and also by h.is constituents.   Such a lot of troubles in our World and so little we seem able to do about them

My friend is 10 years older than I and is healthy and active but has trouble with her short term memory. Our conversations are limited and I know she gets frustrated. I admire her commitment to being active in community inspite of her issues. Your schedule over the next weeks is daunting.

You do seem to be able to cope with a lot of activities in your week so you are doing something right!

How nice to have a chat with an old school friend. You do have some busy days coming up but you seem to do a very good job of planning and organizing your time. Enjoy your weekend!

The news is shocking and we are helpless. Not a good feeling.
Why are some weeks packed full of appointments, etc., and others very quiet? Is it just fate or bad management! Enjoy your busy week and no doubt you will have everything planned in advance.

My day was eventful, but not the sort of event I had hoped for. Returning home with a 2.5l tin of quick drying white satinwood paint, I dropped it in my new kitchen (pale oak)...paint everywhere, on me, to cupboards and all over the floor. As I was changing out of my paint splattered clothes, I spied my neighbours, Lindsay & Tim working in their garden, and called for help. They rushed round, and together we scooped paint with a dustpan into my washing up bowl, and scrubbed the cupboards with Tim's degreasant in hot water, with my washing up brush!
2 hrs and lots of dead dog towels later, and there was almost no sign of the mess. I had to conclude that spilling the £36 tin of paint was annoying, but my lovely neighbours are priceless!

So pleased to hear you are able to, most days, get out for your walk. My walks are often governed by the weather but today I made it there and back before the rain. Horrified by the news of the UK politician's death - can't fathom the mentality of someone committing such a senseless act. I guess in their twisted logic there was a reason and purpose.

Charlotte - even worse than me spilling a cafatiere of coffee over the carpet a few weeks ago.

Don't get too tired with your busy schedule. Nap, nap, nap.

I have hearing aids and I find that it works well if I put the phone on speaker. The phone receiver covers the hearing aid microphones.

I loved Charlotte's story.

It's been a blustery, gusty day here, and I spent the day inside, cleaning and rearranging furniture.

I'm not sure, Pat...carpets are difficult to clean!

Make the meal fun, it doesn't have to be complicated and if you are ever stuck a take away would not come amiss, after all you are seeing family and talking and should not be worrying about the food and how to get it to the table Pat. That was a long sentence.

Having met David Amess a few times, my husband has been hugely upset by this, as we are all shocked and horrified. Regardless of what the murderer might think, this is not the act of the genuinely religious, it's fanatical hatred, with no place in our society.

A wet and windy day in west wales here. One for sorting cupboards - and computer desktops too!

I enjoy hearing about your day. You keep busy when you need to but also take time to rest or do your word puzzles or take a walk. You have a good balance of activities for your days and weeks. Glad you are keeping safe and well!

Long sentence it might be but a sensible one Thelma. Thank you for those words of wisdom.

Thanks everyone for communicating.

You are certainly doing well, making yourself go for a walk as often as you can. An occasional day off won‘t harm you, as long as you keep up the regular activity.
Nice to know you will be busy over the next few weeks - those visits and appointments will help with your 6 chats a day goal!
