Change

Yes, change is in the air today as was foretold.   After that lovely sun all day yesterday, today is cloudy and also considerably cooler.   Also, after feeling on top of the world healthy yesterday I am not feeling so good today.   Priscilla and I decided to walk down to pay L for the fruit and fruit juice she got for me in the week - not far and also part of our usual walk.   By the time we got to her house and put the cheque through her letter box I was not feeling brilliant but persevered and carried on.   By the time I got home I was feeling distinctly under the weather and of course it was only then that I realised it was most likely to be a reaction to my Covid booster jab the day before yesterday.   I came in, had a bit of lunch and a coffee and then put my feet up and had an hour's sleep.   I woke up feeling more or less back to normal.

But how different it feels without the sun.   Luckily the weather for tomorrow is set to be cooler but sunny - the good old sun makes a difference doesn't it?

That is the extent of my day today and as Sue from Suffolk says in her answer to me yesterday - we have got Strictly to look forward to tonight.   It does pass the evening so quickly and the standard of dancing is so good this year..

Two lovely animal stories have caught my imagination today.   One is Thelma's (North Stoke on my side bar) post yesterday of an elephant listening to Grieg played on a piano.   It is sheer delight to look at - do go over to her post and look at the short clip.

The other is a sad but beautiful story of the Gorilla rescued from her dead mother when she was only a few weeks old and her mother had been shot dead by poachers.  She was born into the Kabarizi family of Mountain Gorillas and was hand-fed with a spoon and nursed through pleumonia and not expected to live.   But against all the odds she did and was virtually reared by Andre Bauma one of the rangers at the National Park - a Unesco Heritage Park in Africa.   Over the last fourteen years ranger and Gorilla have been inseparable.   She has never been strong and now, at only fourteen (natural life span 40-) she has died in Bauma's arms.   He says he 'loved her like his own child' and the last photograph of them  is very moving.  The photograph and the story is in today's Times.

I'll be back tomorrow.   Have a pleasant evening.

Thick fog for the morning here Pat, but eventually warming sun this afternoon. Doesn't look like we're going to see any sun tomorrow though.
I'd of thought that a reaction to the Covid jab would of come the first day after, rather than the second day.
But you're certainly showing a lot of us the way to never give in to old age - well done.

After the day you had yesterday, you did really well today!
I saw the beautiful, but sad, gorilla story yesterday, and loved the elephant. The pianist must have been fairly sure they were not going to be squirted with water!

I'm glad it was just a short spell of under the weather.

You had a very busy day yesterday - only natural to feel tired the next day. x

Stories like the one you shared about the gorilla make me too sad. I just can't read them this time of year, when my mood naturally seems to sink lower and lower with the shortening days.

I hope you're feeling better and having a good day today!

Pirate had his flu and booster jags today.
He has learned from the first one- let your body get on with it and Don't stress it!
Glad you felt refreshed after a siesta

I imagine the combination of a busy week and the covid jab caused you to feel a bit under the weather. I am glad to hear you felt better after a nap. Animal stories touch my heart every time! I will look those two up. I hope your evening has been good.

Such moving animal stories. How can anyone believe that animals do not have feelings?
We have enjoyed a beautiful day down here and I joined my son and his wife for a coffee this morning sitting in the garden of the coffee shop. However, this evening clouds have appeared so I don't know what we will wake up to.

Yes, the sun makes a big difference, especially if we can be out and enjoy it. I admit I am sometimes glad when the weather is not great on a very busy work day - it means I am not missing out on a beautiful day while I am cooped up at eotk.
Derek, when I had my two jabs in the summer, both times I was told that reactions were possible for several days afterwards, not just the next day.

I too was struck by the gorilla story. The sun left her life too soon.

A slight reaction to the booster shot seems common for most.

I read the story of the Gorilla dying. Very sad. My wife shed a few tears.

I have seen the video of the Elephant quite wonderful. The story of the Gorilla was beautiful and sad at the same time. I did cry.
We have been very worried about Oliver for the last 2 months. He has been to the Vet many times for treatment. We tried our best to help him but Monday the 9th he passed with the help of a vet who came to our home.
We all are shattered.

Thanks everyone - back to 'spritely' (in my mind at any rate) again today.
