An observation

This is just an observation and not meant to be in any way political.   I am sure it applies to many men other than our Prime Minister and I am sorry if what I am about to say offends anyone's sensibilities, but this morning I watched our Prime Minister being interviewed on Breakfast Television and I couldn't help noticing (not for the first time) - and I couldn't help thinking I was meant to notice - that the way he sits leaves little or nothing to the imagination and in my view is in very bad taste.   Am I old fashioned or am I prudish?   I don't think so.   In my younger (much) days I have posed as a model for painters - it is just that there is a time and place for everything and I just don't think political interviews on Breakfast Television is it.  There, that's said, I will leave it there.

So, what kind of a day has it been with you.   Here there has been torrential rain on and off and I believe the River Ure is well over and many local roads impassable.   The good thing is that the river can go down just as quickly as it can come up.   It is said to be able t o rise twenty feet in an hour.   The gas man was scheduled to come to service my boiler before winter but he never arrived.   I wondered if the state of the weather in the area had held him up but at half past one the Gas Board rang to say they were sorry but there had been so many call-outs through break downs that there just had been no time for their scheduled calls.   They have remade the service for early December.

Other than that it has been an uneventful day with nothing much happening.   Tomorrow is supposed to be much warmer as our weather comes up from the Azores and our torrential r ain should have passed out into the Atlantic.

After tomorrow I have two busier days  - Thursday my Covid booster and Friday ear tests for a new aid.   I have now completed my antibiotics for my urinary infection so I am hoping it has cleared up.

See you all tomorrow.

No it is not just you. The man has no sense of decorum [or honesty, or moral scruples, or....]

Manners and decorum seem to have gone out the window for many people. I miss it. Torrential rain and winds in between sun skies here in Suffolk today. Fingers crossed your infection has been sorted. Viv

I only watch the headlines of any news programme so cannot comment on your first item.
Torrential rain here last night but quite a nice day today though cooler. I was surprised to see everywhere looking normal this morning and sympathise with anyone who has been affected by the recent deluges.
I am waiting for my Covid booster but the flu jab is booked for next month.

Are you talking about his Crown Jewels, lunch box, tackle, old boy Weave? Tsk tsk. I thought you were above that sort of thing...

Tom - how can I be when he puts on the performance he does?

I am on my way to bed and it is still pouring with rain here but a nice warm day promised for tomorrow.

Always something interesting to discuss in your blog, Pat. I'm sorry I missed the P.M's interview. Maybe I can find it on You Tube!

I'm glad I missed Boris' performance...it sounds truly horrible!

It's called man spread Pat. I know men in Australia expect to be called out on it - very bad manners and crass. - Pam.

ןThat reminds me, I've got a picture of your PM ,as a teenager (about 16), volunteer at a kibbutz in Israel. He's so, so cute with his blonde hair!1

Some people feel they are above all standards and/or they are lacking in good manners. Very Nouveau riche. It has been raining here for 3 days. The rest of the week is supposed to be sunny.

I watched a clip of the interview. I think he is rude in his participation. I also see where Donald Trump sent that mistaken box of blue ties.

Can't comment on Boris Johnson, never saw it.
I meant to comment yesterday when you said that your annual boiler service was being done by British Gas, wished I had now because the chance of a non-appearance was one of the things I would have commented on. This September I finally cancelled my expensive call out and servicing agreement with British Gas because of their appalling record. Last winter when I had an urgent heating problem I spent a couple of days trying to actually talk to somebody from BG by phone and ask for an engineer to attend. Trying to arrange anything urgent with them is almost impossible, in the end I paid a local guy to do the work needed. They also use contract workmen a lot and also use the "we've had lots of urgent calls" excuse to get out of their failings. A person of your age shouldn't have a service put back by many weeks. This last year they have lost an enormous amount of customers through bad service.

Well I'll take it was 'man spread' he was guilty of, amongst all his lying sins doesn't surprise me. Waiting for the gasman to come, as a country we were famed for the people who never turned up when we wanted them but they come in the end if we nag ;)

As you know, I am often on trains and there I usually see men sitting like that - good job I remain mostly standing by the door on the shorter trips to work, and have my own reserved seat on the long-distance trains on weekends. I don't fancy having a man's private parts thrust in my view like that, apart from that way of sitting taking up much room that is actually due to the person on the adjacent seat.

After a rainy start of the week, today looks much better; I can see a nice long after-work walk coming up!

I was fortunate not to have seen that interview!
Have you seen how he musses his hair before going to an interview or giving a speech(proclamation?!)?
And yet people love him..all Pirate's family are now ex-Conservatives except one daughter...but she is married to someone working in high finance....

I think the fact that there is modern terminology - man spreading - for the way Boris displayed himself proves that it's is not old fashioned to object to it. Just the opposite

Are we saying that this is purely a male thing then, that women never make parts of their body obvious or exposed.

Seems like I shall have to get used to 'man spread' as it seems to be called. I did notice that the BBC Man interviewing him had his legs crossed.
Derek - True to form Gas Board rang, said they had emergency call outs and rescheduled my service for December.

Thanks everyone for calling by.

Pat, could you get someone to recommend a local gas engineer to look at your boiler, and cancel the contract with British Gas? My sister in law found that their 'insurance' was not worth the paper it was written on, as they had an excluded £90 call out fee, and then just said she needed a new boiler - a local engineer fixed her old one.
