Monday

Today was 'taking my mole to the doctor' day.   I rarely go to the doctor and I don't think I have   been since before Covid so it was strange going into a spaced out waiting room, masked and hand =sterilised, to wait spaced out until - half an hour later I was called in to see the skin specialist.  She praised the photograph I sent her  on line when making the appointment, said it was the clearest she had ever been sent (my son took it with his new camera so he will be pleased) and told me the pattern on the side of my nose was not skin cancer but was some unpronounceable named thing which will repond to chemotherapy, and gave me a prescription.

I saw a dear old friend who has passed her hundred since Covid began and still looks as fit as a flea.   She is beginning to lose her memory but physically looks very well.

Friend W called this afternoon for a chat.   I am always pleased to see friends.   Now that I am fairly immobile it is always good to have callers - passes the day well.   I usually manage to fulfil my speaking to at least six people each day target.   I easily managed it today by going to the doctor, having the taxi to take me there and back, meeting the old friend at the doctors, having the friend call this afternoon, speaking to the doctor of course  - it soon adds up and stops me feeling lonely.

Rain is forecast for tomorrow and today it has been cloudy and not very warm all day.   I had the central heating on for an hour at tea time but it has soon switched off - it is that time of the year when things soon warm up if you switch the heating on.Take care friends - until tomorrow.  See you then.

I am relieved to hear that the mole is not sinister and can be treated.
Today here has been horribly wet and cold all day long. We are still resisting turning on the heating so have added an extra jumper and each have a hot water bottle on our laps!

I have heard that we are due torrential rain for most of tomorrow with disruption and flooding thrown in. I will look out of the window and decide whether to nip (I should say plod) out early or stay put.
Good to know your mole is not a nasty one but can be treated with a prescription.
Haven't put the heating on yet but did put on a lightweight sweater, then felt too warm.

Pleased to hear your mole is not sinister.
It's lovely that you have so many friends, neighbours and family to chat with. It's awful to loose your mobility, but perhaps declining memory is even worse?
I had to turn the fire on last night; the mornings and evenings are definitely much chillier.

Good to her that your mole is not malignant and can be easily treated.

Talking to six people is a good plan. I can't say that we do that regularly!

Good news about the mole! Wet for most of the day here, but a few nice days forecast.

Glad it's not too bad and hope the chemo doesn't have side-effects.

Good news about sorting out the mole. Staying in touch with 6 people each day is excellent for you and them. The cool weather is wonderful. Today, I noticed a bit more red and orange in the Maple trees. The chipmunks, squirrels and wild turkeys are very busy foraging and building nests.

Glad to hear the mole doesn't require surgery. We get regular skin checks in Australia as a precaution. Last time the doctor removed a sinister mole from my bum! It was benign but the wound took forever to heal as it was right where my undies sit.
As we are still in a hard lockdown the only person I speak to is the husband. Good on you for speaking to so many. It certainly keeps the brain active.

Good news all around, from the mole to the friends. It's growing cooler, fall is coming on.

It was wise of you to take your mole to the doctor. Thank goodness it is something that can be easily taken care of with medication. It must have been wonderful to run into an old friend while there. I love unexpected surprises like that. You do quite well to speak with six or more people each day! See you tomorrow!

About 20 years ago I went to a specialist about a 'sort of mole' of the side of my face. He applied some freezing liquid, I paid my fee, and it disappeared a few days later. Magic.

That's good news about your mole not being cancerous. And how nice to meet your old friend! Reaching 100 years and beyond is truly an achievement, and even more so if one is still reasonably fit.
The weather here is still beautiful, and today our temperatures will reach 28C. The rest of the week is forecast to be cooler and wet. I'll make the most of it while I can and plan a riverside walk tonight after work.

Have just switched on at seven in the morning. Yes - it's early but I happen to sleep in my 'office' as it is the most convenient and when I draw the blind in a morning it is always a temptation to see who has been''talking' to me overnight. Very threatening sky but not raining yet - obviously on its way. See you later

Reaching old age involves luck and good genes, and good genes involve luck too.

What a relief your mole was not nasty, and treatable. You must be very relieved.

My OH feels the cold these days and wants the heating on for an hour each end of the day, whilst I come down, turn it off and fling the door open!

Speaking to 6 people a day is a good target. I used to avoid speaking to people as far as possible, but you-know-what changed that to a certain extent. I still try to avoid people who speak AT you though. I am glad you still speak to us!

I am glad your mole is not serious. I had a small one on my face, but then a free something to cleanse your skin fell out of a magazine, so I used it and the mole went away, scary but still. I love the way you get through your day chatting away to your half dozen people.

Growing old does involve good luck and the luck of good genes; but you can help luck along by having a healthy diet, getting exercise, and keeping your brain active - and you are doing these things.

Great news Pat - you were good to have it checked and now have peace of mind. Amazing how many thingamajigs pop up as we age - and of course we curse all those days in the noon day sun without sunscreen which wasn't really available back in our youth!

Chatting is fun and necessary to keep one vibrant and interesting. I do nag Bob about too much from him - the Irish genes work overtime - but thankfully most of what he chatters on about seems welcomed by those who listen. . . . . he is smart and knowledgable thank goodness, lol!

Wish you and I could chat in person - we'd have much to discuss I'm certain.
Hugs - Mary

Speak to everyone with a dog. Many different breeds on our estate and all very well looked-after. Everyone who owns a looked-after dog wants to talk about it.
