Drama

A friend arranged to come for coffee this morning and to bring a couple of home baked scones (they came warm, comforting - you will see why they were needed) for us to have with it.   She was returning a book she had borrowed and also bringing me one of our Book Group's forthcoming books as she had more than one copy.  We had a lovely morning - I enjoyed almost every minute of it - so let's get the not 'lovely' bit out of the way first.

I made the coffee - I had laid the trolley all ready to push in - wheeled it in with the 'pusher' still sticking up.  Just as I got to the fireplace I caught the pusher with my arm and knocked the full coffee pot over all down the fireplace and all over the carpet.

I am not a fast mover and my friend, who also has mobility problems, is not either.   But she was on her hands and knees with the towel before I had a chance to wonder what to do.   I found some carpet stain removed and she did the rest.

I made a fresh pot of coffee while she buttered her scones - they were absolutely perfect and so comforting after the bad start to our get together.

After Lunch (scampi, chips and a lovely salad since you ask) I had a list.   Somebody was talking in Blogland the other day about making lists - well I made one this morning:

Coffee with M

Walk with Priscilla

Book taxi for Hairdressers

Book a service for my Gas Boiler.

Put on a post for today.

So now dear readers I have just crossed off the last thing on my list and I can go and make myself some tea and sit and relax knowing I have done all I intended to do.  Oh and I knocked the coffee all over The Darlington and Stockton Times which H, my friend and neighbour, always lends me before she reads it herself.   I texted my dear Carer who lives near to the Newspaper shop and asked if she could please get me another copy and she has already texted me back to say 'job done' - so a satisfactory day all round.

To one list maker from another...I spilled my cup of coffee this morning! There must be something in the air. We just take these incidents in stride. No big deal. You made a nice recovery with the purchase of a second newspaper.

I have apparently mastered the art of knocking over glasses of water! They spill along the counter and drip onto the floor - regardless of whether I knock them over in the kitchen or bathroom!!! It does keep my countertops cleaner but I do get annoyed as most of the time it doesn't seem like I was even close to the glass! So now I keep towel rags close by and just try to consider it part of my cleaning routine.

You got some practice at sending a text out of it. Look at the positives.

I am doing that sort of thing more and more, and you have a head start on me.

Susan - didn't even purchase it - my carer's neighbour had finished with her copy.
Very annoying Cheryl - are you sure it is just water in the glass?
Good point Rachel - I am getting marginally quicker at it but I absolutely refuse to use text language - I prefer to spell correctly.

Accidents will happen. They're fine provided don't involve blood.

It's a great feeling when you complete a 'To do' list...I am usually over-optimistic!

I make lists too - jobs to be done, shopping, forthcoming appointment dates, etc. I'd be lost without them.
Glad no injuries were incurred during the spilt coffee episode. All's well that ends well.

Snap, just the sort of thing I could do ! Glad it all ended well with lovely scones to enjoy.

The post and the comments are like reading a Barbara Pym novel.

What a bother! But all sorted and nobody died!!
I have just caught a glass with a saucepan handle as I was tidying the worktop after making yoghurt..but no disaster, no bits on the floor. We all do it!!

Thanks everyone - you are right about the blood Tasker.

Not quite up to the Barbara Pym standard Rachel - must try harder.

Drama in the Drawing Room. The towel grabbed hurriedly for mopping, "down on her hands and knees before I had a chance to wonder what to do" is pure Pym.

I dropped a mug of coffee on a keyboard once. That was quite dramatic as well, especially given it was not yet 5 AM.

All's well that ends well, though, and I'm glad you got all those boxes ticked on your list. Sleep well!

Definitely a "good list" day.

I have recently developed very low vision in one eye. Several times a week I forget to look out of my good eye, and completely miss the container that I am trying to pour into. It is still a surprise when I pour whatever the liquid is all over the counter or table. I notice it pretty fast, before very much is poured out, but it is still a weird feeling. Every time I do it, I think "Well I should know better by now."

Everything sorted in the end, hopefully the coffee did not stain and the scone enjoyed.

It's been way too long since I've had a proper scone!
I get very annoyed with myself when I do something like that; spill or drop something. Of course I know it's no big deal and happens to everyone (and thankfully, it does rarely happen to me), but it is nonetheless annoying.
Still, you had a very good day, all things considered.

Susie - sorry about that - sounds very annoying.

Thanks everyone - off for my walk now - lovely sunny day and it is the day when I cope alone.

At last, after so many days of heavy rain, we have a very warm and sunny day, with more to follow.
The clock is ticking now to see how long before somebody complains that it's too hot.

I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
