Monday - another week.

Grey but humid and no sign of the sun today - at least is giving my plants a little respite from the hot sun, and the odd shower to help them settle in.   Once the burning sun comes back they are on their own - there is no way I can get up there  to give them any help with watering.   What would I do if I didn't have the garden to worry about I sometimes wonder.  What a super hobby it is, even when you get to my stage of life when even the simplest weeding is almost beyond my efforts.

Well, football fever is - hopefully- beginning to abate.   What a pity it is that it has become so violent and abusive.   For many years, when I was a child, my father was President of our local village Football Club and in those days each club had a  number of tickets allocated and my father and my brother went to Wembley.  t hat is until one year when going to the ground my father and brother got off the train at King's Cross and my  father had absolutely no choice which way to go - he used to say his feet never touched the ground until they got to the Stadium.   He never went again.   I thought of this last evening and wondered what he would have thought of what he endured that day plus the violence, the abuse, the drunkeness - he would have been appalled.

We have now had a wet afternoon but at least all the tennis is over before the weather broke.   There is a lovely photograph of Prince George with his Mother and Father at the EuropeaFinal - he is looking up at his Dad and cheering like mad at the goal England scored.    The only thing is I do wish he had been in a football supporter's shirt rather than a suit and a shirt and ti.e.   This generation of the Royals has lightened up so much surely that would not have been a step too far for a little boy.

Until tomorrow, when hopefully I will be back to normal.  (whatever that is)

In what way are you not at a state of normality today? Did I miss something? There is another stage of Le Tour tomorrow so something to watch peacefully in the afternoon.

That little 'cute' suit of George was a wretched mistake to dress a young child in and rather sad as well but he definitely enjoyed the match with his parents.

Yes, it would have been lovely to see George in a football supporter's shirt; but he did have fun! Hope you are feeling on top form tomorrow. x

According to my newspaper today, it was Kate that insisted that George wore a suit, William wanted him in more casual attire.

If garden watering is worrying you, could you get an automatic watering system? I have a semi automatic system for my vegetables and find it brilliant.

Luckily the football fever pandemic was over more quickly than the other one.

Everything seems more violent in today's world: sporting events, people standing in line at the grocery store, drivers of cars, radio announcers, politicians, protesters, police officers, you name it... the culture is more violent in every aspect. Do you know what I think it is? The cell phone radiation, especially now that it's up to 5G. It was never tested on humans before putting up the towers in everybody's neighborhood across the globe. And yet just a new warning came out in the last few days, about cell phone radiation and cancer:

https://spiritdailyblog.com/news/health-watch-cell-phones-can-greatly-increase-risk-of-cancer

If cell phone radiation can cause cancer, what makes people think it can't cause an alteration in mood? I don't have a cell phone. I thought I needed one, I bought a cheapo flip-phone from Walmart, bought the refill card for it, loaded it, put all my friends & family phone numbers into it, and never turned it on once. Now it's dead & the refill card expired. Guess I don't need one after all. :-)

I hope you've had a pleasant evening and rest well tonight!

I hope you are just feeling a bit over tired from the busy weekend. Another good rest tonight should help. Getting violent over sports makes no sense to me. I see it as totally and completely inappropriate. Violence at sporting events should be cause for being banned from future events. It's raining in Massachusetts too. Two days of rain and everything is lush and green. The lawn will need mowing when the sun reappears.

I'm sure Prince George has plenty of 'little boy' clothes to wear most days. Perhaps his parents were thinking ahead as one day he will be heir to the throne, and for them the game was a semi-formal occasion. Like his Granny, his start in life will be different from his siblings.
So sad that football hooliganism is still going strong. My grandparents used to attend the Cup Finals at Wembley until they were in their 60s without having to worry about it.

Rachel - no you haven't missed anything - loved having my visitors but find anything out of the ordinary difficult to cope with these days.

Derek - interesting what you say about 'that suit'.

The humidity has been awful when I do my virtual spin classes!

As for the young price, why do they dress him like the 1930s. Poor kid!

I saw the prince cheering the football, too. I thought the suit was too much.

I was surprised to see Prince George dressed so formally for a sporting event. He is such a cute little boy, and his siblings are adorable, too.

Love,

Could you get a drip irrigation hose to do your watering. The hose could be set up where you cannot reach and all you'd have to do is turn on the water.

I am obviously in the minority, but I thought George looked very smart and respectful in his suit. If the Royal Family don't uphold standards, it will be a very sorry day.

I read somewhere that Prince George insisted on wearing the suit as he wanted to look like his Daddy! We will never know the truth.

I thought George looked great. I didn't realise there had been any controversy about it. Sounds like a media story out of nothing.

Lovely to read those last few comments about Prince George. I really do think you are
right - and we have to admire the royal couple for lightening up the way they behave.

Thanks to you all.

David Beckham wore a suit too - how times change.

Although I'm pretty much a non-royalist, I think Kate and William are are terrific and definitely the way forward. Just a shame that we will have to endue the very old-fashioned, Charles first, after the Queen.

And of course Tom Cruise John!
