Wednesday

Sorry, no post yesterday.   I had too busy a day and when I finally got round to switching on I was too tired to hit the right buttons.   But I am up bright and early after a good night's sleep, the sun is shining and it is a quarter to seven so I switched on, read all your yesterday's posts and I have come ov er to my own just to say 'Good Morning' before I go round, draw back all the blinds and look at this morning's news before J arrives, and eat my breakfast.  It is another beautiful day - I'm sure the plants in my garden are crying out for rain but I am sure the farmers want a few more days to get all the silage in - and I must say that the newly cut grass is beautiful.   See you later friends.

After lunch now and jobs done.   I have walked right round the block bright and early and really enjoyed it.   Met my gardener on his hands and knees weeding a garden on the estate and stopped for a chat.   Put today's washing, which my carer had put in the washer, into the tumble drier ( I am not steady enough to peg it on the line), sorted out the newpapers and magazines from the week-end and eaten my shepherd's pie with mixed veg (delicious) and my mixed fruit salad with yoghourt and watched the one o'clock news.   I don't wish to hear or read any more about whether or not the Queen was consulted about the Sussexes calling their new baby Lilibet - if they didn't ask HM then I think it was bad manners and rather unthinking of them but I don't expect we shall ever know the real truth - so let's move on.

The skyis clouding over rapidly but sadly I don't think any rain is forecast.  My newly planted plants are desperate but there is no way that I can water them, I am not steady enough.   I do manage to water my tubs outside the front door so that's better than nothing.

How quickly the weeks fly by - Thursday (hair day) again tomorrow and my taxi has to come ten minutes early because someone else has booked for my time (I usually book on Tuesday morning but forgot yesterday).   Still, if that is my only worry then I am lucky - I am sure you will agree.   Until tomorrow friends, when I hope I will have something to say rather than this mundane post

I have just scuttled out to water my back garden. 'Scuttled' because of the gnats and mozzies which come out at the bottom of the garden, after the sun begins to go down! It's a pity I feel too 'hunted' to sit outside in the evening - and too hot in the afternoon!

Why do you not have several bookings ahead with the hairdresser? Get them in the hairdressers diary and write them on your calendar. All settled.

It's been another beautiful day here too, but I don't sit out on a hot day. I find it far more comfortable to sit inside with all the windows open after my walk.
For someone who has mobility difficulties, I must say you seem to accomplish a great deal.

I did not consult my parents on the names of my children and I didn't expect them to consult me on grandchildren names. The baby is going to be called Lilli, which goes nicely with Archie. This is yet another very boring and specious storm in a teacup created by the media. How low "journalism" has sunk.

I will only believe what HRH herself has to say on the matter, and that is - I hope - not going to happen.

Rachel - I always go at the same time on the same day to the Hairdresser and have done for years. But for some reason my taxi service won't take a permanent booking - I have to ring up each week and make it and even ring from the hairdressers to book my return home.

I love reading what you call “mundane” posts. Most of us don’t do really exciting things during a day but that’s life. It just varies at the stage of life you happen to be living in. Keep up the mundane posts.

It sounds like a couple of busy and enjoyable days. Have a good time at your hair appointment tomorrow.

I have only been reading your blog for a few weeks but was worried when you didn't post! Glad all is well. Like Rachel, I thought you were talking about the hairdresser not the taxi. How silly of them not to take a permanent booking. When my mother died I tried to book a wheelchair taxi to take my father to her funeral. They could only say it would be there within a 5 hour time frame - I didn't hold back in telling them how stupid their booking system was. We manhandled dad into the back of my brother's car.

You are wise to keep busy and active. Also meeting up with people as you walk daily in your village keeps you connected with your neighbors. Strong community is best for all.

We have rain forecast for seven long days. How I wish you did, too.

I assumed you meant the hairdresser not the taxi. You need a one man band taximan who has your booking fixed, Mrs T on Thursday mornings. How crazy that they make you ring every week.

And to be picked up.

Re The Queen; I would have thought that 'Elizabeth' would have been more appropriate. 'Lilibet' was a very personal name only used by Philip.

Rachel I agree totally it is not a satisfactory arrangement.yThey are husband and wife and they are the local taxi people they have done it for years and there doesn't seem to be anyone else. I intend to speak to him about it this morning.
Cro - my feelings exactly.

Quarter to six in the morning - wide awake - decided to get up early!

Thanks for calling.

I am always happy to read your posts. And, I would never call them "mundane". You tell it like it is, and I am so happy to "know" you, I get a lirttle worried when you don't post, Thinking maybe you took a tumble or something. Your dependability in posting is praiseworthy, given the obstacles you have to overcome. You do a tremendous job. Thank you.

When I was born, my father's boss, John Colton, was so delighted to hear I was named after him that he opened a Post Office savings account for me with £5 in it. No one had the heart to tell him I was in fact named after my late Grandfather. Maybe the Queen can take a similar attitude!

If they are a husband and wife team then they should know better treating a regular customer like that.

Like some others here, I enjoy your "mundane" posts very much, so please don't stop writing them even if you feel you have not much to say - you do, you know!
Yes, the weeks fly by, and we're approaching mid-June when it feels like we've only just had the last of April and the first of May.
Coincidentally, today (Thursday) is my hair day, too. I have now stopped colouring, as you know from my blog. But I want it cut short enough for my fringe not to hang over my eyes, so that I'll be all neat and tidy for next week's eye operation and its aftermath.

There is so much "news" that isn't news at all and so much that we aren't interested in.
Your posts are never mundane, they are notes from a friend :-)

Another one here happy to read your posts, whatever the content! And never apologise for being busy - it's lovely to hear that you've been out an about, seeing people and remaining part of a community.
Wishing you a pleasant trip to the salon and a lovely Thursday!
