Missing

So far, as Rachel has let me know this morning, Cro is missing from my new blog list.   So sorry my son missed you Cro.   I have tried to put you on this morning but sadly my shaking is so bad this morning that I can't manage it.   Rest assured that as soon as he finishes today's on line teaching I shall contact him and ask him to reinstate you.   I can't do without my daily dose of your delicious meals and what is growing well at Haddocks.

I finished 'A Bike Ride' by Anne Mustoe last evening.   It was recommended to me by S, who lives on the Isle of Man.   I have enjoyed every word and do recommend it to anyone who likes travel books.   Anne did the ride in the late eighties/early nineties after resigning as Headmistress of a Boarding School.   She was 54, overweight and out of condition (she says) and wobbled because cycling was unfamiliar.   As a Classicist she gives us a ride round the World - the highs and lows of the actual ride and a short history of Classical times as she does it.   I see she also wrote two more travel books afterwards.  Looking her up I see that on her last ride she was taken ill in Syria and died in hospital in Aleppo.   What a wonderful way to go.

My new bloglist is interesting.   With the exception of dear Cro I think all my familiar friends have been transferred.  But as I said last evening, if my son has missed anyone else please let me know as soon as you realise and  I will get my son to add you on.

It was a lovely sunny afternoon yesterday but there is much more cloud today and I guess it is cold out there.   Nevertheless I am now going to put on my coat and hat and walk round the block.   I will hopefully add more later in the day so am putting this on hold.

Thank you to Rachel who sent me clear instructions on how to add blogs to my list - it is so long since I added anyone I had forgotten how.   I added Cro in a second with no problem.   We couldn't manage without his daily dose could we?

Nothing else to add today - cool weather, a long(for me) walk, a nice chat to a neighbour, several phone calls and now it is tea time.   Until tomorrow......

Just absorbing the name Anne Mustoe again, which did not dawn on me when you first mentioned her, I realise that I have read all her books. She was the head at St Felix School in Southwold and on her retirement she bought herself a bicycle. I put her up along with Dervla Murphy and her travels around the world on a bicycle and her books.
I am glad I was able to help with the final part of adding to a blog list: it is the bit where it is so easiest to go wrong, the actually adding of names.

No day is complete without reading Cro's blog.
The Isle of Man, well the west coast at least, has been very damp and foggy all day today. Chills the bones!

I'm glad you've sorted your reading list.
Anne Mustoe is another author that I tried to read and failed - hopeless!

I have just realised that you must be near to Hawes? My father was an evacuee there and as children, we would go visit his 'second home' on many a summer - it was in a place called Gale I think. I remember a rope maker too - and someone who made clogs. The farm was across the way from the cheese factory. I probably have it all wrong... But most of all I still have a child's walking stick from there - one of my oldest possessions - watch my blog about that!

I see that although a blog list has appeared, your profile has disappeared.

Well done on the walk round the block and getting your friend Cro back on your list. You are officially entitled to feel smug! I am feeling smug as I correctly identified an email as being 'dogdy' by ringing the company supposed to have sent it. They confirmed it as spam and I didn't have to ask for my daughter's help again.
Anne Mustoe was an amazing lady - so intrepid. Her book sounds so interesting.

All as it should be, count that as a good day.

It sounds like a pleasant day. It has been raining here all day which made it easier to focus on the work inside.

Cup on the Bus seems to be missing from your updated blog reading list, Weaver Pat?

I finished Mothering Sunday, which you mentioned previously...did I miss something? Someone said the surprise at the end was unexpected....did I miss that too?
I found it a bit dull and unsatisfying....enlighten me, please!

You're right about Anne Mustoe; a great way to go, adventuring and doing something you love, still looking forward (not just yet, though, please!)

PS If you fancy an equally gripping but totally different adventure read, try Winterdance, by Gary Paulsen, about his dogs and competing in the fearsome Iditarod, trans-Alaska husky race.

I'm not on your list but then I don't know if I ever was, which is OK. Despite 'following' you and staying in touch for many years, I guess it's up to you Pat to decide who you want on that list, and obviously it can't be all 500+ 'Followers'!

Stay well - take care.

It's very stronge. Below your post where it says The Weaver of Grass etc.etc. It says underneath there in the same font and color::
Location: Sandover NT 0872, Australia

What do you suppose that means? And how did it get there?

PHEW..... I had become quite upset for a moment. xx

Re the location after the post, I would imagine Weave accidentally clipped the location button with her hand whilst typing her post. The default location is this place in Australia, same on mine, I checked last night. Easily done.

Good to know you had a long walk and a chat with your neighbour!
Here, just as my sister and I wanted to set off on our after-work walk, a mini blizzard came along. We waited for 10 minutes, then the sky turned largely blue again, and we ended up having a very nice sunny walk, in spite of it still being cold with temperatures around freezing point.

Mmmm. I don't think I'd want to be in Sandover, Northern Territory. There isn't much there.

About to order A Bike Ride - sounds perfect. In the midst of Wolf Hall which is absolutely engrossing.

Well my dear, I didn't mean you had to put me there in scarlet for all the world to see, lol!!!! I see your comment on my blog though and understand you will have your dear son assist in removing me - or change me to match your others on the list.
Must say though it's lovely to have two of your Followers pop up in my own 'comments' this morning - I love making new blog friends!

"Keep calm and carry on" dear Pat - I'm just hope I can always do all you do!
The storm missed us last night thankfully - but it has turned cold again. March is such a fickle month here in the southeast.
Hugs - Mary
