Sorry for the blip!

Yes - sorry about the blip in communications but am back - not fighting fit but on the mend.   Cellulitis is not pleasant but now I am wearing special stockings (the very devil to get on and off even for my experienced carers) at least I am back to walking again after a fashion.   Hopefully the Physiotherapist has promised to come one day this week and have a walk along the footpath with me if it is fine (the weather forecast for the week is abysmal although at present the sun is shining and that is a boost.)

First of all a message for my friends overseas who read my blog and who are in touch at Christmas - Frans and Riet in the Netherlands,  Joannie and Jessie in Australia,  Elisabeth in New York, Debs in Roaring Pines, Gayle and the four legged ones on the edge of the desert down in the South of the US and Margaret and Joel in the San Juan Islands - and I apologise if I have missed anyone - there has been no way to get my cards down to the Post Office - I still have not been out -and as we are on the edge of a high tier in Covid I can't ask anyone else to queue in a long Post Office queue.  So I am saying here to you all - stay safe and well and have a good Christmas and here's to a better, healthier 2021.   And those sentiments are extended to you all who read me regularly and who are such dedicated followers.

Hope to see you all tomorrow.

Oh and you two dear ones in Australia - those bulbs were so much appreciated - I was in hospital but my neighbour took them in, told my gardener and he came and planted them all - so I should have a lovely display to remind me of you in the  Spring.  x

If you have the stockings that are open at the toes put a plastic bag on your foot, pull the stockings on, pull out the bag. I fought getting my stockings on when i had them and then was told this way to make it easier.

So relieved to see you posting today, Pat and to know that you are gradually improving.
I wish I'd known that tip about putting on surgical stockings when I needed them after my replacement knee surgery; it was such an exhausting struggle at the time.

Lovely to hear from you today. I should think this year, of all years, people will understand if they don’t receive some of the usual Christmas cards.
I hope you continue to recover well, and stay warm and safe.

So glad to see you back today ... like so many others ... I was getting worried about you!
I can empathize with having to use the compression hose ... I am a user, as well! I use the knee hi stockings but, sometimes, I have to put on a pair of thigh hi ones ... since I have to use the Firm compression ... thigh hi's are a total chore to get on, however, I usually win the battle! LOL I use the roll-on adhesive to keep the thigh hi ones in place! That stuff works really well!

Just knowing that you are on the mend is better than a Christmas card. :-)

Take care and I hope the weather improves to the point you can squeeze in a walk.

Nothing to be sorry about Weave. So long as we hear from time to time that you are alright that is all that matters xxx

Such a relief to know you are on the mend again. I hope you find your stockings as helpful as I find mine, even though I get a good workout putting them on each morning!
Don't worry about Christmas cards, just take each day as it comes and get stronger bit by bit, and stay safe.x

How wonderful to hear from you again! I'm sorry things have been difficult and I do hope those legs get better soon! You have nothing to say you are sorry for! Like Rachel said, if we hear from you from time to time or even just a short note then we know you are okay. I'm glad to hear the stockings are helping you. You take care and know that you have friends literally all over the world cheering you on! Gentle hugs!

Good evening Pat,
I am a big fan of your blog and have not commented in the past but have a bit of advice. There are stockings that zip up that are much easier to get on. Found some on Amazon here in Canada so I’m sure they are available for you.
I enjoy reading your blog and love your beautiful part of England.

Weave, I think I wear stockings like yours, and I would not be able to get them off and on and off except they zipper. Would that help you?

We buy large sheets of stamps, and any post get's left in our letter box; with a large red peg on the key to let the postie know that there's something to go. It works well.

Glad you are getting there, slowly, slowly. Miss it when you don't post.

I can only echo what the others here have already said - glad to read from you again, and wishing you all the best for your continuous recovery!
The post office is really not much fun these days. When I sent my parcels to the family and friends in England a week or so ago, my entire lunch break was taken up by queuing (with plenty of space between one person and the next, and everyone wearing masks).
Nobody will think any less of you for not having posted your cards this year, dear Pat!

Joanne. No zipper in mine - they are instruments of torture but once on they are a great support. And thanks for the advice Laurel B - I will discuss it with my Nurse.
Thank you for all your good advice - I am touched by your concern.

Love to all.

Sue said...

The blip isn't a problem once we know that you are okay. That sounds like a good tip with the plastic bag and getting your support stockings on, it really is hard to do when your legs are tender and sore isn't it, I'll pass the tip on to my Mum.

You were missed here in now chilly North Carolina too dear Pat.
Hoping each day will bring better health - you remain in our thoughts and prayers.
Sending Christmas greetings this online way to you and your family - know what you mean about post offices right now, give them a wide berth!

Hugs - Mary
