Sunday morning

Good morning dear fellow bloggers; and a lovely one it is too here in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.   The sky is a clear blue and there is a breeze which I guess is cold, but as I am not allowed - and indeed cannot step - over the threshold I am not bothered about that.   My back garden is such a joy to behold that I cannot stop looking at it.  I had a good night's sleep and a round of toast and butter and a glass of orange juice later I am writing this before I begin to tire.

I watched The Andrew Marr show over my breakfast - Dame Judi Dench - still beautiful, still utterly sexy and, as usual talking such sense.   And I watched The Chancellor and our local MP  Rishi Sunak talking about the price we shall have to pay in taxes to pay for Covid when it finally disappears.   No doubt people will complain but, let's face it - the money has to come from somewhere so that we can begin to clear the National Debt.

I seem to have a resident robin - he (or she) is always around.   I wish I could feed the birds - I have done so for years - but I decided when I moved here that I would stop because it is an effort and once started it must be kept up.   But I wish this little chap knew just how much I enjoy his company.

That's it for today folks - have a lovely day.

I am glad that your garden is giving you such pleasure. I imagine being shut up in hospital, it looks better still now you are free again.

I watched some recorded programmes when I was wrapping china this morning, but can't say it was restful! Having to gallop round today . . .

When I was a child my mother used to always bake on Saturday mornings. She used to put tiny scraps of pastry on the kitchen windowsill and as soon as she did a Robin would appear and peck it up. It got so tame that it used to come and sit on the kitchen table and wait for its hand-out.

Hello Pat. We have sunshine and blue sky here too, after some very November days. You must be so pleased to be in your own home again, however good the hospital care. Enjoy watching the birds in your lovely garden as you convalesce.

Enjoy your beautiful Sunday the best way you can! It's just so nice to have you back and letting us know how you are coming along!

I miss feeding the birds too but we had to stop after we adopted Rick. He just loves chasing and barking at birds so it would be a bit unfair - to the birds and our neighbours!

Our robins fly south for the winter and return in the spring. We won't see one again until March.

I am glad you are on the mend. Well done for the diligence with the exercises - the resultant aching will be worth it in the end! We have fewer birds since our neighbours felled the lovely oak tree

It is so good to have you back. Just take it slowly as you mend and enjoy your view of the garden and the birds.

So wonderful to see your blog pop up this morning as usual next to Johns.
I adore John "By Stargoose And Hanglands" story about the Robin. I don't feed the birds for the same reason you do but I do have water for them it does get up to 118+ in the summer here.
cheers !

There’s always something to see with birds even if you don’t feed them. I watched a red shouldered hawk bathe in our shallow pond yesterday. So glad you’re able to enjoy the nest you’ve made.
Sendin best wishes your way.

How I love seeing your blog again Pat! It's good to hear that you have a beautiful day to enjoy your garden and the birds. Your little Robin sounds quite special and I'm happy he likes to visit you. Our robins come in the spring but by this time of the year they have gone.

Have a wonderful day Pat!

Your robin is still probably happily finding food in your beautiful garden-such as berries, worms and insects x

I'm sure your resident robin finds plenty of worms in your lovely soil, so don't worry about seeds.

Your newly tended garden is drawing lots of birds and now a robin as well. You have a garden sanctuary that evolves with the seasons. Seasonal changes are always interesting, especially for gardeners, like us. Enjoy your day.

A good night's sleep, buttered toast and orange juice for breakfast, the view of your sunlit garden and a robin for company - that sounds like a wonderful start of the day for me!

Hope you are keeping warm, it is very cold this morning.

I think your little Robin friend is just coming to let you know that he appreciates your garden for it's protection and the food he finds naturally, as much as you love looking at it from your windows. I think it was lovely of your gardener to make sure you came home to a nice neat and tidy outlook from your windows.

Sleep will work wonders for your bodies healing ability I hope you continue to snooze these cold nights away.
