Wednesday

Such a lovely morning here - warm and sunny with just a slight breeze but it has been all downhill (or maybe that should be uphill) since then and now, late afternoon, it is chilly and raining and the sky is full of big dark clouds.   I do hope this is not the end of Summer and the start of Autumn.  Our Summers are never all that long up here in the North but a few extra weeks would be rather nice.

I had a piggle at my shredder - there was a piece of paper stuck in the works and I  couldn't get it going.   Shredders really are frustrating things I find.  When they are working they are such helpful things.   I did a nice lot of office work this morning and after half an hour with the tweezers it is working again.   One lot through before I put this post on and now, when I finish it another lot through.

Not a lot to write today - I did have a short walk round the block with Percy but my arthritis is very bad today - rain coming always makes it worse but the flip side of course is that it did make me do my office work so not all bad.   Hairdresser in the morning - early as usual.

Been a damp and rainy day here on Sheppey, as well Pat. Doubt that it's soaked in very far but it's certainly livened the garden up. Sunshine for the next few days though. Have to admit, it does feel quite autumnal and quite depressing as August hasn't finished yet. Swallows and Martins were rushing through the reserve early this morning, heading south and twittering goodbye.

I don't know of anyone in your age group who has a better life than you do. Lots of interests, lots of friends and enough money to eat out frequently as well as pay for help with the things you cannot manage. Obviously you have always been an intelligent woman
and have kept your mind sharp. I congratulate you.

Rainy today, sunny tomorrow - so sayeth the weather man. One of the most dreaded jobs at work used to be an appointment with the shredder!

It's always a good feeling to get your office work done and behind you. I will sometimes squeeze a line of oil on a piece of paper and then run the paper through my shredder to help keep it lubricated. It is a bit of a pain to have to go at it with tweezers which I've done many times too!

I'm glad to hear you and Percy were able to get a walk in today. I hope you have a good evening Pat!

I like the idea of having a piggle at the shredder.

We have had rain here for most of the day and according to the forecast there is some wild weather to come. I did get my shopping done without getting too wet, so that was a plus.

I badly need to cull paperwork, bills and so on, but the thought of then having to spend ages with our tiny shredder makes me leave it for another day! Sorry about the arthritis playing up. We're in for a few days of wet, rough weather apparently.

I put all my top secret documents through the shredder, then I feed the shreds to the piggles. The perfect crime.

Hair tomorrow. Yay.

Not much changes here. 35 C again, swimming, eating, and playing with small grandsons. A little of your rain would relieve the tedium.

Your mention of paperwork has reminded me that I may expect a letter from the tax boys every day - reminding me of handing in my forms for 2019... I usually am not one to procrastinate, but when it comes to my tax forms, I always wait until that reminder, and THEN I will buckle down and get it done and over with in a few hours.
Sure signs of summer ending and autumn arriving here, too; rosehips, brambles, soft golden evening light and even a few foggy mornings, in spite of the heat, and starlings gathering on the electricity lines high above the fields where I walk after work. Speaking of the fields - nearly all of them harvested by now.

Ah yes, we are all of the same mind - Autumn is definitely on its way. My big project on the back patio was soaking wet but has dried out nicely, but no sign of the men doing the job and more rain forecast. I shall be glad when it is all finished.
Thanks to you all for your contributions.
