Still here.

My new computer is 'en route' but has not yet arrived so this dear little old one still sits here and allows me to put on a post - I anticipate problems of a teething nature as I increasingly realise that I really know absolutely nothing about the 'workings' of the computer.   When I mention something my son looks at me in amazement and says things like 'that is not how it works Mother'.   I am determined that when I get au fait with it I shall make more of an effort to really understand how things work.   It will probably come tomorrow, in which case I shall not be posting.

Hair day today - I have really got it well-organised now.   Each Thursday I leave home half an hour before my appointment taking with me the Times Mind Page which gives me a variety of things to .do.   This means I can find a place to leave the car near to the salon.
(I do have a Blue Badge and could park outside but it would hold the traffic up on a busy road).   With just five minutes to go I put on my face mask and gently walk to the salon.  It is difficult to get Percy in the car on my own so I go gently with a stick.   Today I parked next to a car which had been very badly damaged in some kind of crash.   One side of the car was completely battered in - it was like parking next to a wounded animal.

The morning here was a delight - hot sun, no wind - Summer at last.   But as the day has gone on it has clouded in and it is much cooler.   I am religiously doing my new balance exercises after each meal - I somehow feel these will help me although they are a bit scary to do.

Beirut is so distressing.   My Grand daughter's friend has lived there for some years but happily she is safe.   I see that countries (including Israel) are sending relief teams.  I am not sure how one equates helping the wounded and buried people with contemplating fighting a war - there is something about the whole conflict that I just don't understand.   And it is not just because I am getting old - I can blame my lack of computer knowledge on that but I have never understood - and never will - how two nations can fan the flames of hatred for as long as Israel and Lebanon have done.

I was surprised to see you saying hot sun was a delight, it's normally too much for you, but then I guess it's a novelty up there. Here we're into our umpteenth week of hot sun and everywhere is burnt to a crisp. Gawd knows what the cattle and sheep are eating because the grazing meadows are burnt dry and yellow and some animals are being fed with hay all ready. Likewise with the ditches now mostly stinking and green, water must be a struggle. It's going to be a very hot weekend and we have a red, severe weather warning in Kent, for extreme heat and it is set to continue through next week.

The news is appalling, isn't it? I am relieved that the explosion in Beirut seems to have been caused by volatile materials exploding and not by a bomb. It is terrible non-the-less. There has always been unrest in that part of the world - so sad that it still continues.
I hope the new laptop will be straightforward and 'user friendly'.
Today has been damp, hot and humid. Not my favourite combination. I believe we may have more of the same to come.

As Heather says not a bomb but begs the question as to why that amount of volatile bomb making materiel was stored there. Computer you will be fine. So long as you can swear so no one hears. x

It's not knowing what to do with the old computers that bothers me more than migrating to a new one. We've got 6 between us in the family, all but one still working, one now over 20 years old and all of them too old for re-users to take. I supposed I should just unscrew the disk drives and put them in the electrical recyling skip.

Tasker - all I can say to you is what is a disc drive - thatis how little I know about
computers!!

Derek - it wasn't that hot - I go to the hairdresser at 9am and that is when the sun was so lovely. By the time lunch time came it was cloudy and breezy again.

We plan our time exactly alike. A nice slow walk with the stick.

Israel has always been very good at helping those countries that wish to harm her. She gives terrific aid to the people of Gaza, which never goes reported. A much maligned country with anti semitism all around her.

It will be fun to have a new computer. Just go slow with it at first and before you know it the new computer will be like an old friend. You have a good plan worked out for your hair appointment each week. That does make things easier doesn't it? Enjoy your new computer and the coming weekend!

Enjoy your new computer, external drives, I have two, keep records of photos etc, very useful.
Mine is a Dell computer, bought a drive and Word, which has since disappeared and of course security.
Does everyone buy such things, mine is Mcfee.

I am sure you'll soon find your way around the new computer, and does it really matter how much you understand of it? Some basics, yes, and it is good to know how to handle minor problems, but mainly you want to USE it, and that should not be a problem. You have so far been able to post almost every day, upload pictures and so on - not all that many people your age can do that!

Beirut, yes. So very sad. In the early 1960s, my uncle and his wife went there for his work, and remained (first in Beirut, then in Damascus) for more than 25 years. When my uncle retired, they moved back to Germany. They and my three cousins (their children - all born in Beirut, all fluent in Arabic, French, English and German) follow the news about either city closely. When my uncle talks about Beirut or Damascus, he starts to cry and can't speak for sadness, anger and frustration.

Computer savvy sons are a help but can be a pain!
You do this, this, and then this...ok, wind back to the beginning and go at slow...you get it, then the nerds at the computer end change something and we flounder again!!

Old computers can be wiped clean of information and recycled, and set to use one of the Ubuntu Linux systems instead of windoze..uses much less brain and go to charities and people with low income.

Very few people understand how computers work, Weave. We are just relieved whenever they do actually work because we have done the right thing.

The war in that region of the earth has been going on since biblical times. Sometimes we just have to concede that what is, is. Sad to say. Love, Andrea xoxo

Natural herbs have cured so many illnesses that drugs and injection can"t cure. I’ve seen the great importance of natural herbs and the wonderful work they have done in people’s lives. i read people’s testimonies online on how they were cured of herpes, hiv, diabetics etc by Dr. Nogadu herbal medicine, so i decided to contact the doctor because i know nature has the power to heal anything. I was diagnosed with HIV for the past 7 years but Dr. Nogadu cured me with his herbs and I referred my aunt and her husband to him immediately because they were both suffering from herpes and they were cured too .I know it is hard to believe but am a living testimony. There is no harm trying herbs. He is also a spell caster, he casts spells to restore broken marriages and good luck spells to prosper and excel in life.
