Here at last (fingers crossed)

Well I think I am home and dry as far as my posts are concerned.   I got my new Dell laptop on Saturday and my son has kindly set it up for me.   Now I am getting used to it and trying to apply Computer Sense to what ever I do - sometimes successfully, sometimes not so successfully.   The trouble is that my computer knowledge is not always trustworthy.  I really don't think I am a very logical thinker.   But I shall persevere and you will all (hopefully) bear with me for a while.

Considering we are still in semi-lockdown I have really had quite a busy week-end.   I  had asked some builders to take up my upper patio of crazy paving and replace it with pebbles so that I can plant maybe five evergreen shrubs in it to make the area more interesting.    They came to start the operation over the weekend.   In addition I had a series of phone calls and yesterday afternoon friends S and T called with some, runner beans, a courgette and a cucumber.   I have had them for my lunch today with a cottage pie - delicious.   Then my friend and neighbour came round for a chat - so the week end soon passed.

Today has really been one of teething problems with my new laptop but I am gradually getting used to it and every step forward I make gives me a little more confidence.   The weather is extremely humid - still, hazy sunshine and very warm.   Thunderstorms are forecast throughout the week and it will be hit and miss whether we get one or not.   I can't imagine it will be pleasant sleeping tonight as the weather is so very close.

One thing I shall have to do soon on my new laptop is to set the time correctly.   As I write this the time is a quarter past seven in the evening but my laptop tells me it is a quarter past eleven.  I shall retire to the sitting room now to give myself  a break - and return, refreshed, tomorrow.   Sleep well.

I would be completely lost without my live-in help desk person. I rely on him too much really.

With temping a lot in I have always found that with any new laptop or computer as soon as I have signed in nothing else is really any different to the last one because you are still using all the same applications. It is a good idea not to overthink it Weave.

You sound as if you are getting on quite well with your new laptop. I am still struggling with my mobile phone. It is hit and miss if I can do what I want to with it. I did take a 'selfie' with it by mistake. It was so awful the second thing I had to do was find out how to delete it!
It is extremely humid here this evening and I have to sleep with the window closed as I am in a ground floor flat. No thunderstorms yet, to clear the air.

Thank heavens my hubby is a computer guru...lol or i would be lost... One thing he always asks me when i have a problem is 'Did you turn it off and back on?' So i always try to make sure to do that before i go to him with a problem.. It is so very hot and humid here too.. So glad we are in August and on the tail end of Summer.. Since i started walking back in March i have had enough with heat and humidity.. I walk at least 2 miles a day and i come home just wringing sweat.. uuughh.. But i go.. Its good for my health.. Hubs and i have been tiling a back splash in the kitchen... We are 1/3 of the way around...I think its going to be lovely.. Well Pat hope you sleep well and we'll see you tomorrow. Hugs! deb

You seem to be OK with the new Dell; other, maybe, than with the size of the typeface.

When desktop computers became old fashioned, some UK charity collected thousands of them, re-conditioned them all, then sent them to Africa for schools to use. I heard that rather than teach the children how to use them, they simply plugged them in, and left the children to discover how they worked. It took them about 20 mins. We UK adults take a tad longer.

Congratulations on the new laptop! You will be comfortable with it in no time. It does sound like you had a busy weekend. I hope the week goes well for you!

We would be lost without computers, laptop or otherwise. Glad this new one is up and working, now lets hope the computer experts behind blogger get it really fixed properly.

Cro has mentioned the size of the writing in this post; I am glad he has, because I thought it is maybe just me. With my bad eyesight I sometimes enlarge a page so that reading is a little easier for me, but I had not done it for your blog as far as I was aware.
Congratulations to what seems to be a rather smooth transfer for you from the old to the new computer!
And the past few days sound like a good mixture of activities.
Weather-wise, it has been relatively hard to cope with here, mainly because even at night it would not cool off properly. 36 Celsius during the day and 20-21 at night does not make for the best sleep.

I don't set the time on my posts Weave. If anyone wants to know what time I wrote it, they can observe for a few days then make the necessary calculations. It gives them something to do to while away the time.

Thanks everyone. The size of type seems to have a mind of its own and as I am so shaky when I type it is very frustrating in that it keep changing. Hopefully I shall get used to it after a few days. I am certainly better on it today than I was yesterday - so that is a good sign.
